Bluetooth & Wifi Interference

I have a Asus laptop with Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth 4.0 and Ar956x wifi adapter.
Whenever I switch on my blueetoth speakers, my wifi speed goes from 24Mbps to 1Mbps. Turning it off immediately increases the speed.
My internet speed is not affected if bluetooth is just on or off, only when I turn on / off the speakers is when the issue happens
My modem router ( Huawei HG 630 V2 ) operates only on 2.4 Ghz.

I have tried changing the wifi channels on my modem router but its the same issue.

Will a 5 Ghz modem router solve this issue or what are my options ?
I could get a usb lan adapter but I would like to be cable free

Interesting. Sounds like the frequency hopping spread-spectrum isn't doing its job. When you force a channel, you effectively disable channel hopping, which is supposed to solve these types of issues. However, it sounds like maybe the bluetooth implementation is really aggressive and is effectively stomping over all those 2.4+Ghz frequencies. Either that, or the WiFi adapter is obnoxiously sensitive to interference.

I take it you've allowed enough time to pass before observing? Frequency hopping might not happen right away.

5 GHz should solve this issue as it moves WiFi operation well outside bluetooth's operating frequency range.

Another thing you can experiment with is moving closer to your router and running the same tests. It might be that your WiFi signal is right at the edge and any kind of interference attenuates it to the breaking point.

Earlier it was on auto channels but the issue was there so I thought to try on different channels but same issue.
I am in the same room as the modem router and distance is 10 feet from laptop.

I have tested with another laptop which has a different adapter and it has no issues so my best guess is bluetooth & wifi interference is a lot. I am just checking if there is any way I could reduce or solve this interference.
