Hello,

My laptop has built-in bluetooth, and I'm looking for a mouse. I don't like any of the bluetooth mice that I've seen which are sold just as mice. Logitech sells some nice mice and keyboard packages that are bluetooth, with a USB bluetooth receiver. Will I be able to use these mice on my laptop without the receiver?

I use the Logitech v270 with my bluetooth ready viao. It doesn't even come with a hub. Works flawlessly....no complaints.

I also have the Logitech V270, and I love it!

I use a Razer Copperhead on my desktop, so the V270 took a little getting used to, but now it fits me like a glove! AA batteries seem to last a long time, there's no bulky receiver to carry around with you, the sleep feature doesn't bother me, and the 1000 DPI resolution is great!

See, what I'm not sure of is if ones that come with receivers are designed to work only for their specific receivers. My guess is that's not the case, but I'd like to be sure.

All Bluetooth devices are supposed to be compatible for all other Bluetooth devices. For instance, my Nokia 6620 has BT built in and it can see my mouse, but I certainly can't send a text message to my mouse. :D

The BT mice that come with the dongles are just the same as the BT mice that don't come with a dongle (like the V270). If your laptop already has BT built-in, then you can keep the dongle as a spare or give it to someone else who doesn't have a BT dongle.

Remember, just because a mouse says 2.4GHz wireless does not mean that it is a BT mouse. You can tell the difference because they come with their own special receiver and they lack the BT logo on the box.
 
I use an MX900 with the built-in bluetooth on my laptop. It works fine.
 
I wanted to get an MX900 originally, but I need an ambidextrous mouse (I use my mouse with my left hand, even though I'm right handed).

i TOO have this mouse, kicks ass! but for games i need ultra high resolution so i use an MX518. the MX900 i use for regular surfing and such
