I hope this is the right place to post this, I checked the FAQ and read the information posted about Blue Screens but it seems pretty outdated and none of the links work.

Anyways, just recently I've been getting blue screens at boot up - as far as I can tell I only am getting them on a fresh boot, a restart doesn't cause them from my experience. After getting the blue screen pressing the reset button my my PC gets me back into Windows. I'm not sure if this is always the case as I've only gotten the blue screen 3 times so far but each time on a boot.

The blue screen is a *STOP* screen and reads IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with the codes

0x0000000A (0x0000FA14, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x8205F34G)

Searching Google the best page I found was this Gateway tech support page (my computer is custom built though, not a gateway). It basically goes so far as to tell me it's probably caused by one of the following condition:
  • The computer uses more than 3 GB of RAM. (I Have exactly 3GB of RAM)
  • The computer uses a storage system that is running the Storport miniport driver. (Not even sure what this is, but my only storage devices are two internal SATA 3gbs HDDs)
  • The computer uses a controller that uses 32-bit direct memory access (DMA). (Not sure what this is either, but if I look in System Information under DMA it says I have my LPT1 Printer Port and Direct Memory Access Controller)
  • The computer has an NVIDIA chipset. (I have a Geforce 8800GT 512MB)

This Microsoft page has similar information

I'm running Vista Home Premium 32-bit and I have been since July or August without any problems at all, so it's not a fresh installation. The rest of my specs are in my signature, the Geforce 8800GT is relatively new but I definitely wasn't getting this error when I originally installed it or the new drivers. The newest piece of 'hardware' I have is my printer which is a Canon MX310 Printer/Scanner/Fax machine running through USB.

Another point of interest is I recently moved my PC and afterwards I had to go in and reseat my heatsink. Because of how absolutely horrible the LGA775 heatsink clips are I ended up taking out my motherboard and basically plugging everything back in again when I was finished. Oddly, after doing that I booted up perfect without a hitch, however every boot after that has given me a blue screen.

I'm not really sure where to go from here to try and debug this issue, is there a way to find out exactly what's causing the blue screen - a specific driver perhaps?
