im having problems with my other computer
heres the specs

Asus a7a266
tbird 950 (9.5x100)
192mb pc100 generic ram (3x64)
maxtor 40gb 7200rpm
geforce 2 mx 64mb (out of a friends dell)
antec 300watt power supply

it boots fine, posts fine, the windows xp loading screen comes up fine, it goes into scandisk (fat32) then when scandisk is done, it flashes a blue screen, then restarts. Ive tried safemode, ive tried bios defaults, ive tried different video card, i really hope my hard drive isnt messed up, i have alot of stuff on it i dont want to lose, do you think this is the problem? any ideas?

then when scandisk is done, it flashes a blue screen, then restarts
Is this an over and over cycle? Or is it once? Have you tried resetting the bios(usually pulling a jumper for 10 sec, or removing the battery), instead of loading defaults? Here's something I've done for people before, connect to a lan(i have a network set up at home), and use a second computer to virusscan/etc. the first one. Just set the hardrive on the problem-comp. to be "shared"(DONT FORGET TO REVERSE THIS STEP AFTER YOUR DONE). This works great for viruses that dont let the operating system boot, or shut the scanner down every time you start it.

sounds like something in your system files was corrupted. this can happen from a sudden power loss or a computer restart.

what you should do is repair your windows system files

you can do this by booting off your windows cd like you were reinstalling

when it get to the part where you have to choose the partition to install windows to you should choose your current windows partition the next will ask you to either delete partition or repair

choose to repair .

dont go into the recovery console its not gonna help you

if windows intall cant find the hard drive then you are screwed and the HD needs to be replaced

is there a way to share it when i cant get into windows?

Why not put the HD as a slave on another comp, grab all your important files off it, and then put it back in the crapped comp and try reinstalling Windows on it? Repair installs are garbage for me because most of my application settings are fux0red and I end up reinstalling 80% of all the software anyways.

Agreed, u can install it as a slave. Give it a virus scan, grab your files/pics/etc.....as for having no disk...........I know ways to help, but I dont like lawsuits, and microsoft wouldnt like it.:D
