Blocking FUD sites.

Hardforum has been overrun with "tabloid" like sites since i've joined and it just makes me sick.

Sample subject:
"9800gtx coming soon, sux to be you 880og tx userz" (more aggressive than most but adjacent.)
Body:
www.fudzilla/inquier/foriegnforum.cwm
"Ouch!"

It's awful. There are numerous credible sources that post good information daily that get hidden behind this trash.

These sites post obscure amount of FUD that pack the boards with unnecessary posts. I've read more off-topic posts in these threads then i read in all of Gen-May in the sneak peak week.

Take this as you will. A STICKY with a ban site list would be "GGGGGGGGRREEAAATTTT!"~ Tony the Tiger!

This issue we consign back to the members themselves. The most effective method of dealing with undesirable posts is for the member to use the report button

to alert the forum moderator and the admins to the problem and it will be handled. Stickies have a place, but in these situations they have proved to be ineffective.

There's also the fact that not every item or article published on a site like the infamous Inq is an exercise in FUD. If a link points to a useful resource, it points to a useful resource irrespective of where that resource might be published.

Its the Internet and that requires people to use their minds to differentiate between fact and fiction. While I don't like FUD anymore than you, who is to determine what's FUD and what's not?

The information age has provided us great convenience, but with that convenience comes personal responsibility and accountability. We have to find the truth for ourselves, and I believe that is as it should be.
