Not sure if this is the wrong forum to post this, but i'll give it a shot.

I have been playing UT2004, and recently when playing a game the display just blacks out for a second, and comes back.

What the heck could this be?

I am running a 4200ti, and a 19" Flat panel

I don't seem to have the problem with anything else that is why i am confused.

*** I know i know i need to upgrade my card.. This may be the reason i need *****

Does this only happen in UT2k4?

Check that the power and signal cables are all the way plugged in. My bet is that the VGA or DVI cable is coming loose when your feet touch it and then back in when you pull your feet back and cuss at the monitor when it blacks out. I see that all the time at work : )

If that doesn't do it, check that the power saving features of your windows settins are not messing with it. Turn of any of the advanced power saving features and see if that helps.

Lastly I would try and navigate through the menu of your flat panle monitor to see if there is any auto shut off feature that may be activated. I have a great 22" monitor that had a habit of turning off after 15 min of not much change in the video feed. It was a nice feature for a studio monitor like it was designed, but not practical for games.
