Bleeding loop Killed APC?

I have an APC 1500 and I was turning the PSU on and off to bleed my loop. Suddenely the APC's alarm went off, I shut it down and now when I turn it on it the overload light just flashes...

This thing was kinda expensive so is there any way to fix it?
 
try a new battery? I've had two APC units for about 5 years now, and have to replace the batteries once every 2 years.

The orange light flashing is exactly what happens when the battery needs replacing. Try leaving it plugged in, and on, with the light flashing for 5+ hours to see if it will charge.
 
shoulden't the replace battery light flash rather than the Overload light? The light flashing on mine is red. I think a new battery is only $30 less than a new APC!

Me thinks you are buying batteries from the wrong place if you have an APC 1.5 Kw UPS. :eek:
 
I dont trust 3rd party batteries either. I just buy new units and sell the old shells off.
 
Probably not, but im too lazy to look deeper into it, since APC's are cheap anyways.

You must make a lot more money than me or buy a shitload of them to get those kind of prices. My 1.5 Kva Smart-UPS was like around $4-500.
 
well like I said the replace battery light is not flashing, hell I hardly ever even ran it of the battery..Only a few occasions where I quickly shut down the PC.

It was working fine, I started turning on and off the PSU in the PC to bleed the Water cooling loop and when turning it on it suddenly made a lowd buzzing noise and the OVERLOAD light started flashing.

Now whenever I turn the APC on (even without anything plugged into it, the overload light flashes) the Replace battery light does not come on at all. I think the battery is fine.

I believe the unit was under $300 but should last longer than 2 years :(
 
Batteries typically need to be replaced about every two years. Suggest you open up your APC and look at the batteries.
 
The batteries should be good enough to pass the power-on test for far more than 2 years. The only reason to replace them every 2 years is if you absolutely need the maximum rated runtime. Otherwise you're wasting your money or you're unplugging the UPS just for fun every day.
 
Regarding the problem, have you completely unplugged everything from the UPS and tried to fire it up? If it won't work then, it is most likely a coencidence that it went out while you were bleeding.
 
ive had bad power supplies to this to my belkin ups. like the prvious poster said have you unplugged it and everything from it to see if it will reset it?
 
I ran through the reset procedure and the overload light still flashes, I waiting to hear back from APC. They said it may have developed an internal short! But why? a 1500Va UPS only running a water pump and a couple of fans should not have burned out like this right?

I have a feeling that if I was not bleeding the loop (turning PSU on and off) it would still be alive.

Your saying my brand new AEnermax Liberty PSU is bad? The system seems to run fine!?!
 
no, might not be bad. but ive had customers come in that have jumped the power supply wrong by accident? :eek:



but if its the overload, its def not batterys.
