Blaz Blue

i have this on preorder for PS3.

dont know if it will take away from my SF4 time, but i love the guilty gear x stuff so im gonna give it a go.

IGN just gave blazblue a 9.4.

im stoked for this title.

We've got this at the arcade here. The graphics look pretty sharp but I never got into the Guilty Gear games.

I just pre-ordered it for the tips vids it comes with. Haven't played guilty gear in years. Can't even find my copy :(

So anybody pick this up yesterday?

I picked it up for the Ps3 after work and got the collector's edition(1st shipments will be LE) and wholly shit man if you thought SF2 HD looked good you haven't seen anything, this is the best looking 2D fighter I've ever seen. And the 3D backgrounds are amazing, after you play this you'll wish SF4 had backgrounds like BB. Of coarse it's not SF4 gameplay, it's more or less Guilty Gear in a nutshell gameplay-wise.

I ordered mine from amazon but they dont ship it till tomorrow for some reason. Oh well, at least its free shipping/no tax. Ill have it by the weekend.

PSN = forsaken if anyone wants to hook up.

Pre-ordered through game stop. The store I ordered didn't get theirs yet so they say..... But the one across town has it in stock non preorder. Canceled the one running across town at luch. The things we do for games lol.

Looks and reviews very well, but its a shame I don't enjoy the fighting genre anymore. I just get frustrated and don't want to practice combos. But regardless this should a great game for those that do.

Just got back from Game Stop. Guy told me that the only copies available now are the limited edition. The regular edition wont ship till end of this month. So unless you want to wait a month try to get it soon. Did a quick check at bestbuy.com they only show online ordering for the LE. Wierdest launch I've seen  that is if the GS dude wasn't BSing me.

yeah its only limited editions. but they are all normal priced, so its a better deal to get one earlier than later. pretty sweet imo

Yeah plus looking at the box it comes with a video guide on every character. Really is a smoking deal.

I just picked it up for the 360 while at lunch and now I can not wait to get off work to try it :D Live ID is "t2p dwk" without quotes if anybody want to add me that gets it. I just wish my damn arcade controller parts would hurry up and get here... damn you lizardlick.com and your slow shipping been almost three weeks :(

anyone elses blazblue bonus blu-ray have a bad press? I have lots of the bumpy surface on the outter ring of the BD, and the disc wont read all the time.

Game Disc is fine however.

I just checked mine and the Bluray is fine haven't checked the 2 cd's though.

What exactley is on them?

After having spent the past few hours playing it, it definately has a Guilty Gear feel. Everything from the music to the artistic style (except the backgrounds are 3D rather than hand drawn), to the fighting style. Sure, you don't have Slash and High Slash, but overall, it just feels the same (yet evolved). That was one of my complaints about SFIV honestly. It felt less like Street Fighter, and more like King of Fighters.

The one problem I have is that the screen's cut off unless you select a different aspect. But I'd rather have it take the whole screen and miss a few pixels here and there than have a black border. At first, I was kind of upset that there was no install option, but the game actually has fairly low load times.

If you like fighting games, this is definately a must buy. I'm surprised this didn't get rated M honestly though. Not that it's honestly that bad, but the ESRB seems to sometimes go overboard. Suggestive themes? Play as Taokaka:p

Basic break down of the game, than goes into specific character strategies from pro players. Gives you a nice list of combos for them too. So far loving it alot more than SF4. Feels easy to pick up hard to master.

Online play is loads better than SF4. If they could add the mode where you can play the PC while waiting for a match it's be perfect.

How hard is this to get into for the beat-em-up-impaired?

As others have said, it's incredibly easy to get into, but incredibly difficult to master. Guilty Gear was similar, in that every character had the same button presses to perform moves, it's just that one characters move was different than another, so it's knowing when to use a specific move, when to combo break, when to throw, etc.

Beating the game on normal is fairly easy. But getting online and you'll notice you will get crushed. Or, you could choose Noel like 80% of the population.

I thought Ragna or Jin was going to be used most, but it seems Noel is populating the internets!

Also: Anyone with a PSP and this game try remote play? How is it? any input lag?

Fabulous game, neat story mode, and Japanese vocals if you choose! It is a must buy for 2D fighting fans, anime fans, and those that want to get into a fighting game. If you're new, there is even the option to bind special moves to a single button. Most of the moves in the game are pretty easy quarter circle and dragon punch variants, but some of the Astral Finishes are tough. Compared to SFIV, the moves seem harder to actually pull off or less forgiving, especially the 2x circles.

Oh, and for a special treat... Turn on Japanese mode, Play Bang Shishigami, use your Drive button attacks to build up the 4 characters above your super bar - Fu Rin Ka Zan, get your super bar 50% full, and do double quarter circle back + D. What happens next by itself is worth the price of the game, just about.

Pre-ordered a couple weeks ago, waiting for it to ship from amazon, can't wait!

Has your copy shipped? I preordered from Amazon a week before the release date and it still hasnt shipped. Given that it seems like there will be no more production runs of the limited edition (eb/gs is already listing the non-limited edition at the same pricepoint), I went ahead and bought a copy at BB just in case...

Well just my luck. Amazon shipped my copy today :) Ill just have to return my BestBuy copy when it gets here.

Loving this game. Been using Hakumen mainly. Anyone on PSN add me! ID is: VonSockthroat

It shipped last night. I chose free Super Saver Shipping since I live in Germany and it has to be shipped to my APO address and I was in no rush to get it. That is, until now..lol...i really want to play it now. XD

How's this game's story mode? My one complaint with fighting games is they don't seem to be worth the full retail price and more for renting. I know it's all about "mastering" the game and all that, but for those of us who aren't willing to spend $150 on a fighting stick or whatever, what's the low down on the single player? I know the multiplayer online is supposedly lag free, which is good. Also, is it best to play a Guilty Gear game before trying this one out? Too bad GameFly has this on low availabilty...I really want to at least give this one a try first before forking the $60 on it, but may just end up buying it based on reviews.

If you love anime you'll love the story mode. Plays like a cartoon almost.

I have a tournament that I'm going to this Saturday, and I will be repping Ragna! Holla

So who do you guys play most?

I started with Lychi, moved to Noel. Noel is feeling like easy mode. Not sure who to main.

great game! i love it and I was a huge GGXX2 fan. I only have a couple of minor complaints

A) when someone quits on you also get +1 to your incomplete games. I got a few rage quitters on me and I really think that I should get the win ( which i would have anyways since most are rage quitters) and not add to my incomplete game score
B) too few characters - not a huge problem but a few more would have been nice.

this is more an observation than anything else, but the characters are really different in terms of style and pressures. Like I'm an Arakune player so it's just about high low mix up with zonal pressure while you have other guys like Ragna/Jin/Noel who are all about rush pressure or Tager who is essentially tank/grappler. It makes for interesting matches.

They are already play testing the next one in Japan. Two new characters terumi and the dude in the hat. Fixing a lot of things.

The game is good, but the balance among the cast is off. They are working on this.

Currently though Rachel, Nu, and Arakune are over powered, and Hakumen/Tager are under powered.

It's not a massive glaring problem, but some matches are pretty lop sided.

I use Nu and Ragna.
