I uninstalled my drivers for my on board video card. For some reason, my ATI Radeon 9250 isn't working. When I boot my computer, the screen turns black. Whenever I try to install the drivers, it says I don't have the right hardware or software. Is my card shot, or is it something else?

Specs:
Dell Dimension 2400
512MB DDR RAM
Intel Pentium 4 2.4GHz

You need to remove the cmos battery or use the reset jumper. then boot to cmos and disable the on board video, shut down cold and install the radeon then boot. Should work

I have no idea what rig you have but my Asus i815 CUSl2 board need to do that, it was Intel based

You will need to do a google search on what a cmos is and dont boot to it and make changee unless you know waht it is There is a great deal of documentation in you motherboard manual about it. If you are resetting it make sure your grounded ( no static) and the rig is unplugged for at least a minute. Carry on and good luck

You could post a cmos knowldge request in the motherboard forum as well

By the way post your system specs next time its helpful

your rig may preclude video upgrades all together for All i know. Many of the oem baords that were I810 based for example , had no upgrade path for video , there was no way to disable the on board.

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 :( I know, I know... I bought it before I knew much about computers.

Dell does a pretty good job meeting the needs of a great deal of people however thier design is not condusive to upgrades. How old is your 2400?

Well guess what guys. She didn't have it plugged in... no joke. She didn't plug the monitor in the new GPU, she left it in the onboard slot.

Don't worry Uber, I still love ya. :)

One question though. it seems when I scroll, my screen gets a little liney, does that mean i might have to resync my card?
