According to a The Egg's newsletter thing that they send with shipments (the only one I've ever specifically asked for), they're selling the XCLIO Blackhawk for $90 (with promo code: BTS026), and I'm thinking about getting it. (finally throwing out my budget nightmare case from hell)

This thing is massive (stands 20" tall), perfect for stuffing with hard drives, and keeping stuff cool. Anyone using it? (and thoughts on it?) They also have this one for a similar price, which seems good as well, but a little too bulky for my setup.

That other Xclio case looks fucking horrible imo, but this one doesn't look half bad. I think it would be interesting too see what kind of passive cpu/gpu cooling you could get away with using this case.

Why not just get the Antec 900 or 1200? It looks like this case is based off of that design.

I have an Antec 900 and i fucking hate it.

Dust is a nightmare. I went from a P182 to the 900... a very very bad mistake on my part. Im actually going to take the fans out of the 900 and Throw the actual case away. Since i doubt i can sell it and cover shipping.

+1

The Antec 902, however, is an excellent case.

Dust is a nightmare.
Can someone clarify for me if these more heavily-ventilated cases are supposed to be a lot more dust-prone? (it's not a huge issue, but I want to make sure there isn't anything I need to know before switching)

The original Antec 900 didn't have dust filters installed by default. But they corrected that with the 902. I use a 1200, which has dust filters, and I'm not having much of a problem. As long as the case you want comes supplied with filters, you shouldn't really worry unless you're extremely sensitive to airborne particles.

Oh, so dust is more of an issue for people with allergies, and not so much a hardware risk?

dust reduces surface area for heatsinks, creates extra drag for your case fans and speeds up development of rust.

Cleaning out your case with compressed air once every 3-6 months(depending on how anal you are) will keep dust build up from creating problems. If you don't happen to have fan filters, then you would have to do it much more frequently.
