Anyone have this? Is anyone as disappointed as me regarding how slow this thing is? At best I get about 12MBps transfer speed. I've been using this NAS since it came out and never really paid attention to the speed of the thing because it stored all of my DVDs and played them fine on all of my media centers in the house.
But last night I wanted to experiment with ripping my Blu-rays to it and play them on all of my media centers, but it was so choppy and unplayable. That was when I noticed it was only streaming at less than 15MBps (I believe Blu-ray requires 56 - 58MBps).
I'm using a Netgear GS108 gigabit switch and all of my computers uses gigabit NIC of various brands. I looked in the Seagate forum and saw lots of people complain about the slow transfer speed, only to be told by Seagate that NAS units are normally slow like that.
I'm considering building a server instead with WHS or OpenFiler and pull the two 2TB drives out of the BlackArmor NAS and use it in the server.
