Black smudge on LCD

After transporting my LCD monitor and turning it on I noticed a black smudge in the screen. I tried wiping it off but nothing happens. If I press on the mark it seems to fade some, the pixels aren't dead but there is something making a mark on the screen. Any ideas? Thanks
