I try to boot ANY nvidia drivers for my 6800gt (and my MX 440 card that I know works). I boot comp. I get past Windows XP logo screen. Then the screen goes black. I can hear the Windows booting music, so I know the comp is working! It's such a tease.

I can access the comp through safe mode, and it works when I don't install the drivers (no drivers at all).

Any advice?

I used to have a x800 pro that worked perfectly. I cleaned the drivers using Driver Cleaner.
 
same thing happened to me today, i had to do a repair install of windows to fix it :(
