Black Ice Pro + Antec Sonata

I'm getting ready to build an asetek system into my case. Was wondering if anybody had ever put a Black Ice Pro into an Antec Sonata.

I know it's gonna be really tight, but the CPU on my board is pretty far from the back plate, and I have a dremel - I figure I should be able to shoehorn the rad and fan into the case.

I saw a viperlair review where the guy just mounted the rad+fan on the back of the case. I wouldn't really mind putting the fan outside, but I really don't want tubes running around outside the case.

Anybody had experience with this? Pics? Tips?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

I'm getting ready to put my Chevette heatercore inside my antec sonata, I moved my hdd's up to the 3.5 bays and will put it where the hdd rack used to be. Actually, I haven't totally taken out the hdd rack, just removed the trays and will run the tubing through the back support. And I may mount the fan + shroud on the support too.

I'm hoping to put the rad + fan on the backplate, maybe with a little dremeling to the horizontal support beam that runs under the PSU.

Kit came in the mail yesterday, and even though I have a midterm today I spent a few hours of quality time with my case and dremel tool last night.

Total success. I had to cut about 1 inch of the bottom part of the horizontal support out, but it's still plenty rigid. Other than that, all I had to do was relocate the fan screw holes about 1/2 inch northeast of their original location. I chose to mount the included sunon fan on the back to keep from cluttering the inside of the case, but got the rad and push-fan mounted inside.

Here's a pic from last night, just after I finished fill and bleed. Sorry for the gianormous size, but I forgot to edit it before uploading to my server. Letting her run today to make sure I don't have any leaks. Will post more/better pics when I have everything stuffed inside and running.

***First Post from my first watercooled PC***

Resized the original pic, installed system, now I'm loading up a pic of the installation nearly complete. The only things missing from the case when this picture was taken were the JLED Panel and the IDE Cable running to my DVD-RW.

So far I'm very pleased with the setup. Silent as hell and about a 6c idle drop from 948u to Waterchill. Can't do much overclocking, nor give accurate temps both thanks to my stunningly ill-supported MSI K8N Neo. As soon as MSI gets off their duffs and makes a BIOS worth flashing though, I should be set with everything from PSU to cooling ready to get the most out of my new system.

Thanks, I got the idea when I was still considering putting in a dual 3.5" bay-res. Even though I've decided to go with the included cylindrical reservoir for now, I like the idea of keeping the floppy there.

hehe, looks like we did the same thing to our radeon 9800 pros. anyway, I had a watercooled lanboy, but I just got my A64, and I am waiting to buy some stuff (wb / new pump / res) and for the abit pci/agp lock bios to come out (crosses fingers) before I go back to wcing. I like my Rad's in the front, however, because the air back by the CPU is warmer than air fresh from the room.
