well, i finally got my two black ice extremes.. but im having trouble figuring out how to mount these bad boys.. should i use the screws that they provided me? or use my fan screws that came with the case? i need to mount a fan onto the radiator then mount it onto the case.. i want to later on mount another fan into push/pull config so i dont want to put the screw that they provided because i want to be able to use the same screws for the fan.. please help.. i have everything but i cannot install it..

lianli v1000plus.. i would take some pics, but this is my gf's computer and i have no way of getting the pics from my camera to the computer.. so here are some internet pics..

i took out the first drive cage so i could put one of my rads and fans there.. and the other on the exhaust outlet..

here is the rad

Your GF has good tastes in computers :)

Okay so you see those little four holes on each side of the rad? You can use a 6-32 hand tap to get about 1-2 threads in each hole. Next you want to mount the lower radiator on its side so the I&O fittings are on the side that you can see. Take out the fan and it's holding structure as you will mount your fan and radiator to that mount. You can use small machine screws to attach the fan to the mount and another set of screws to attach the rad to the fan. Getting the back fan/rad to fit is more fun ;) You will probably have to either elongate the fan holes, use different screws, or both.

ok, well, this is my new computer, but im using my gf's computer to go online.. my gf could give a rats ass about her own computer.. :) anyway..so i tap the holes with a 6-32 tap and buy 6-32 screws? how long? and i can imagine how much of a PITA its going to be to get the fan/rad together.. sheesh.. do you have any pictures or anything? im actually kind of confused.. and i want to do it all right before i mess it all up.. thanks for you help

I will take some pics when I get home tonight and post them here. :)

hmm, well, i tapped the rads.. and i guess i know what you mean by putting it sideways on the bottom, but it barely fits on top.. like the ceiling for the intake next to the drive cage is too low.. and it hits the ceiling with the top of the rad.. hmm.. i have to force it in there to be able to screw on the fan plate thing..

the rear, the edge of the rear is too close to the side panel and i dont know how i will fit it on there..

i guess i got the exact wrong case to be water cooling with huh?

well hope you get those pics up.. i cant stand sitting here not knowing what to do.. thanks!

Well the V2000 is easier to work with, but I'm sure it will all work out well :) I used the BI Pro rads as they are thinner and fits better I think.

Okay here are the pic's :)

hmm wow. i have same case as alex (as ive said in previous threads) with same kinda installations in mind. one thing tho alex, LOTS OF FOLKS are watercooling in this case.

thanks very much TN for the pics of the front mount, how about the back mount? and im sad to say but this whole tapping of threads is supn i havent done. not to say that i cant or it'll be hard or whaddeva but this wouldnt be the first time that i have the experience in a particular act or method without realising the name comonly given to said procedure, act.....

so later on we can all discuss tappin and i gues i gotta borrow a power drill whee.

alex, again, i dont understand how you are gonna fit the powerstream in that case WITH the second drive cage still there. unless the v1000 plus is actually longer than the v1000 (which i think the only differences are the extra shit that comes with it) then i dont see how its gonna happen. i would LOVE to have put my rad setup in front like TN's pics but at the same time i gotta have hard drives too.

the only other way ive seen it done with a black v1000 + wc + powerstream is when the guy removed all the drive cages, put the rad in front + an auaero or whaddeva + the powerstream and then his hard drives went up in some modded bay up top.
ok first post of the day and im blah-ing, see ya!

so, let me explain my troubles.. i went ahead and tapped the biX rads on all four sides.. it works great.. i stuck some bolts on there and they seem to hold well.. good idea..!

i mounted the supplied fans on the radiator and then back onto the fan holder thing for the front.. as you can see in TN's pictures, the rad comes up above the fan and the metal plate.. and if you see on the case pictures, there isnt much room over where the metal bracket goes.. so, if you mount the rad on the fan and try to put it back onto the case, it needs to be forced on there.. it does fit back on and you can screw it in, but it's mighty close.. i plan on adding two fans in push/pull config.. then mounting it back onto the front intake slot.. hopefully it will hold and not fall of later down the line..

as for the back, i am having trouble putting the rad on.. all four sides seem to be having trouble mounting up.. any way you face the I/O fittings, it will come close or over to where the side panel is.. it will probably touch when putting the side panel back on.. if you put the I/O fittings on the bottom, the holes do not mount up because it does not have enough room on the bottom, you cannot go to the mobo side because of the inputs for the mouse and keyboard get in the way, you cannot have them pointing up because of the video card slot.. well, the exhaust fan side is turning out to be a big PITA! and i have NO clue as to what i am going to do with that..

the drive cages seem to have an easy fix because i can just drill some new holes and move it forward a bit..

this WC setup seems like it's going to be a hard one.. anyone help?

i do not have pictures, but once i get the computer built, maybe i can get some up..

You may want to think about mounting them up top and moving the 5" bay drives down a slot or 2. I have a v2000s and i am still getting parts/making parts/fixing parts fot it but i just put the radiator in a few days ago.

The radiator is a blackice 3x 120 pro but i am going to run 2 fans on it unless i really need the 3rd, to run the 3rd i will not be able to use my pci slots

If you were to mount say a 2x120 mm black ice rad on the top of the case an not the resivor as well i think it may work out well. + i think it looks nice.

here are some pictures for ideas also a pick of the PSU area on the v2000 that shows how much more room there is I am going to place all my pumps in there ( i am going to keep the pumps on an shelf with a lip and a external drain just incase it starts a leak.)

hey check this out

http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1027650214&postcount=197

i *think this guy has his rad and fan on the exhaust slot. i mena you are makin me worried kind sir cuz i was plannin on puttin my rad and fan internally at that 120mm slot at teh back of the case but if you cant do it then i dunno whats up.

also there are a buncha really good examples on that page of that thread too.

check it out for yourselves..

DSC00170.jpg

this is the exhaust.. with the black ice extreme.. it's JUST slightly off on the mounting holes that are already on the case. im sure you can drill it out, but who would want to do that??

DSC00171.jpg

you obviously cant mount it on another way, or it would get in the way of the motherboard..

DSC00172.jpg

and of course the front has to be off too.. to make things that much harder for me..

Looks like you put the front mounting plate on the wrong side. It only fits correctly in one way. Found this out the hard way. ;)

it is on the right way, if i put it the other way, the dust shield will not fit.. therefore i know that the first picture that i took is supposed to be the way i mount this thing..

DSC00173.jpg

DSC00175.jpg

Ditch the dust shield as you don't want it anyway. Can you imagine having to disassemble your water cooling system all the time to pull that dust filter out? Can of air once a month is a lot easier. Are you having problems with the bottom of the rad hitting the cables below it?

EDIT: Oh I see what the problem is. The radiator fittings need to be on the same side as the side you work from. :)

if i put it the right way, im having problems with the rad hitting the top of the area.. if i put it upside down and take out the dust shield, im having trouble with the rad hitting the cables..

edit* well, yea, i just turned it around so i could show you that the thing wasnt on upside down, even if i unscrew the rad and flip it, it'll still give me the same problem..

Give me about 30 minutes and I will go shoot some more pics. :) However, do you per chance have a "PLUS" version case?

I got tired of mounting heater cores in my V2000, so I got lazy, zip tied them together and mounted them outside. :D

The pic is from early on, and it's looking much nicer now. I also added fan grills after chopping up my index finger on those panaflows.
X850XT_on_H209-vi.jpg

I'm not taking it to any LANs with the radiator and pump screwed to my desk though. heh

that thing looks crazy.. haha.. however, i already bought two black ice extremes and i want to mount these things inside the case... that is cool though..

hmm, i thought the only difference with the plus and the other one was the extras that came with it.. like fans and heat dissipating stuff.. hmm, i wonder what it is..

I don't know how sound this idea is, but since you've for two BIX-es. You could experiment with your loop.

res -> pump -> BIX#1 -> GPU -> BIX#2 -> CPU ->res (return)

i have a cpu, gpu, chipset, 2 rads, pump and a res.. work that out.. and maybe another gpu later down the line..

Okay the problem with the "PLUS" version is that they really cheapened up the product so far as us water coolers were concerned. I have a solid aluminum plate where my rad fits on to the back. So I can easily elongate the holes on the fan or modify the plate. However, with your "PLUS" version you can't do a lot with the fan area in back because it is wire mesh correct?

These are some of my solutions. As TN said, lose the dust shield in front. Although this is a v2000, I believe the distance from the front plate to the front mesh is similar....you might want to explore mounting the fan on the opposite side of the plate in TN's pic above, then mounting the rad to the thumbscrewed plate. Mine didn't interfere with the usb-firewire cables below, and if anything this Evo120 is bigger than the BI. With this mount, you should actually have room to put that first drivecage back if you decide not to go push-pull.

top nurse, how is that fan + rad actually attached to the back of your case tho?

oh and im loooooving this thread as it wieghs greatly on how i am gonna do my setup.

Well I initially attached it with some screws that had an integral washer attached to it. Can't remember where they come from, but Sharka keeps them in stock for something else they sell. However, it caused the rad to sit at a slight angle. The plan now is to either elongate the fan holes and back plate to fit or I am going to cut that whole mess out and use an Aqua Computer 120mm Evo fan grill to hold it in. :D

Ya gotta love those V2000 cases :D These cases weren't designed for water coolers, but they sure are the hot ticket! Nice way to fit the fan in front  but wouldn't have worked for me because I didn't want to have to mangle the case getting those HD racks out. However, I hear that newer versions of that case have the HD racks bolted in.

I need some of those 45degree fittings!, both for the rad, and one of the Aquatubes. Those from Macmaster-Carr?

That's where I got them from and they are made by Legris. Which reminds me that I forgot to get the G 1/8 45's :(

I have also seen some 90 and 45 degree bulkhead fittings around as well.

hmm, i got the front one to fit..

im going to be adding another fan for push/pull config, so i will probably make some sort of brace to put under the rad so that the fans and rad will not slope downward..

all i did to fit it is mod the mounting metal thing and screwed the fan on.. ill post pics if anyone wants to see..

the rear, ill probably just drill it out some more so i could mount it a little higher than how it's supposed to be mounted.. so hopefully it'll fit in the rear as well..

hmm, things are looking brighter for me..

until i get my psu and cant put it in anywhere..!!!
