Anyone here expect, good deals for pc components ?
For the past couple of years, black Friday as been rather lousy.
I did notice since August, prices of many components tend to rise, until
black Friday, to fool people in thinking, the components are on sale come Black Friday

For example, I purchased an i7 4790, for $ 319.00 regular price, in July,
it's now $ 30.00 more
motherboard, I paid $ 25.00 less in July,
memory you guessed I saved about $ 38.00 for 16 gig,

Wondering why I'm asking ? I feel like assembling another system, to use as a server.

I am already broke, so no shopping for me!

I will probably camp out microcenter for their deals, they had amazing deals on the 4770k last year.

I expect almost nothing worth while related to PC components. Same as it has been the last few years.

And pretty much no point in fighting the masses in B&M stores either.

The last couple of years, I have just waited till the middle of the day when the stores are all pretty much dead, walked in and bought what I wanted.

Saves a huge amount of time. No way am I getting up 3 hours before stores open to try and get a lame doorbuster that the store only has 1-2 in stock to begin with.

The whole operation is a scam.

I feel that this is, at least to some extent, a side-effect of the proliferation of e-tailers. The profit margins for a lot of e-tailers tend to be very minimal to begin with as you are often in competition with other e-tailers to hit the best price, while simultaneously avoiding the overhead of brick-and-mortar operations. They advertise/market based upon price and people have come to expect them to have low prices.

The origins of Black Friday sales are in brick-and-mortar stores, where you could use excessive mark-downs to both attract customers to make additional purchases (add-on sales, etc.) and to liquidate inventory that is tying up valuable sales floor space. This eventually expanded to include items that were specifically purchased from the manufacturer/distributor at a reduced price with the intention of selling the items at a minimal profit or even a loss (Radio Shack and Best Buy used to do this, not sure about now).

The problem for a lot of companies has been that sales figures have been down while costs have been up due to the sluggish job/wage growth in the economy and increases in fuel costs, healthcare costs, etc. I imagine they simply don't have the flexibility that they have had in previous years to liquidate massive amounts of inventory for little or no profit, hence the sales have been lackluster. Some companies have always boosted prices ahead of sales to make the sale price seem better, so in that regard nothing has changed, but due to the lack of really great buys out there, I suspect people are paying more attention to this currently.

I spec'd out my next new machine and the price comes to a little over $9200 so I hope there are some decent deals on Black Friday...but I'm not hopeful

Pretty much this! I camped out at 3am once, never gain!

I'm hoping Microcenter has even better CPU/Mobo combo deals on BF for my next rig. Also need a good deal on 16 GB of ram and SSD. Not expecting much on computer hardware. Looking forward to Steam sales though.

It's always been a trend for prices to creep up slowly for about 2 months before BF/CM, then things so on "sale" at or slightly below the old original prices to give the illussion of a deal. That being said, I hope I can snag a Crucial M550 128GB for $60 or less, or a 256GB for $100 or less. Not going to hold my breath...

I'm seeing some early BF kick ass deals on TV's already...always the best time to get a good deal on one of those.

SSDs are the only component I see having decent sales. There are lots of tricks on BF that's why you need to use camelcamelcamel on every purchase. I have found that the next week we will start seeing some good deals come in. You cant just wait for BF, you have to be ready to buy any time between now and then if the price is right. A lot of things go up in price on the day.

My goals are for $80 or lower good 256GB class SSDs.

Steam sales have been pathetic lately too.

heres the big problem black Friday is broken. the whole point of the door buster was to get you in the door and get you to fill your shopping cart up. The problem is most people don't go into stores now, they shop online and the really good deals sell out in 9 seconds so you don't have time to fill a cart. This means all anyone does is buy the 1 door buster and then move to the next store. So instead of making money on other items stores just lose money. For this reason they have really toned down the door busters and for whatever reason the sales forces have not seen the need to fix the problem. Fixes might be something like being able to buy stuff instantly but getting free shipping on everything you order for that 3 day period that ships all at once on Monday or something. They just need a way to get people to bundle more together. On top of that scalpers just beat everyone to the really good deals I don't even look for great deals anymore I just look for decent deals that they have a lot of.

Yes, Obama is president, I accept that. But I'm still pretty ticked off that I can't participate in these deals just because of my skin color.

We have black history month, black entertainment television, black magic, black ops, and now black friday, etc.

Only WHITE thing left is Christmas! :(

I want to get a 70" TV and I'm currently going between getting it now with the 10% off movers coupon from best buy, or waiting to see if it will go on sale on black friday for lower. Hopefully the ads will be leaked soon

I'd love to find one of the few remaining 60-65" Plasma TV's before their all gone.

I think what has been said before in this thread pretty much hits the nail on the head.

For the last few years, Black Friday and Cyber Monday have been nothing but reposts of deals that could have been had earlier in the year. The only thing I see having drastic reductions are big ticket items like TVs, and even then, they are usually off-brands that have a total of two inputs and little to no warranty.

I just hit up slickdeals, Techbargains and the [H]otDeals every day whenever I am looking for something...

Since i live in Canada, up here, Black Friday, does not exist,
We call it SUCKERS and MORONS day, that't the day, of the year
when a whole lot of people go to BestB**, and other stores
and come out with a $2900 flat tv on sale from $5000 , and other stuff ,
thinking they hit the mother load of deals,
while the same tv usually sell for $1800.

Pretty much the same thing with everything else here, no such thing as a "sale"
unless it's junk, or it's obsolete.

I hardly ever buy into big box retail Black Friday "deals"

The things they are putting on sale are truthfully either EOL or about to be. The price you get it for might be good for Black Friday, but if they have left overs it'll end up just as cheap, or cheaper, and you saved yourself a hassle of standing in line with the general public waiting to be trampled over a "deal".

Much cheaper SSDs would bring me to buy but other than that, its all a kids day.

best Black Friday sales for me are the Amazon Blu-ray deals...looking forward to the Breaking Bad Complete Series box-set

Only thing really ever that is a good deal on black friday is movies. Everything else is cheap crap that you really don't want or is terrible quality and you really don't care about it (who wants a pos 50" rca tv? someone who doesn't care at all about visual quality). There are a few scattered deals here and there, but I really just go looking for movies.

I'll grab a TV maybe, not the bottom of the barrel $149 for a 42" deals, but something halfway decent. I have never seen an OMG MUST HAVE component deal online for BF, no MC near me. No Staples either this year lol. My only B+M shopping is Lowes, always cool shit there.

$300 - $350 for some 1TB SSD drives. Not looking for anything else myself.

Looking for
  • SSD drive (250 gig or higher)
  • A subwoofer to tag along with my Audioengine N22 Desktop Audio Amplifier & Audioengine A2+ speakers
  • 27-29 inch LCD screen or one those Ultra widescreen ones whatever I find on sale
  • Monitoring Speakers (I want a pair of Yamaha HS7 Powered Studio Monitor speakers white if possible).
  • Surface RT 2 for my dad (I know they always go on sale dirt cheap with the touch keyboard).
  • Surface 2 Pro (refurbished) for me :D
  • Nintendo 3DS XL for my nephew.
  • And a mechanical keyboard no clue on brand whatever looks good.

Been hoping for a PS4 deal somewhere but they are nowhere to be found.

And a sound bar with wireless sub. I've seen some in leaked ads but not sure which to get.

a deal i want isnt gonna happen so im not expecting anything glorious at all.

but ill post it anyways hehe. a 770 4gb for $150 lol, yea crazy huh?

I always fine good bf/monday etc deals, but you have to look hard.

What I'm hoping for/expecting:

AMD Side:
290x @ $249
290 @ $200
280x/285 @ $150
280 @ $130
270x @ $99

Nvidia Side:
780Ti @ $275
780 @ $250
770 @ $180
760 @ $150
750Ti @ $99
750 @ $79

Nexus 7 FHD 2013 for $150'ish....
Name brand 480/500/512G ssd @ $150
Name brand 240/250/256G ssd @ $69
4790k @ $199 (4770k was $199 last year), but will probably end up at $229-$249 probably MC

The two deals I distinctly remember from last year was upgrading from a 7800GT -> 670 GTX Directcu mini for $225 - $25 rebate and my 4770k bundle w/ board for about $270 OTD. That included local 10% sales tax at the time. I think it was $199 for the cpu & $40-$50 for the MSI board.

Both were great deals.

Lol, went over to a buddies house and he had a huge 50" Vizio. We were watching Oregon play, and boy what a shitty screen. About 6 inches on both edges of the screen were curving the field lines and I was like "what is up with the screen? He didn't notice....... That shit would drive me bat crazy to know I owned a $500 TV with a bad screen.

Edit: the 780ti will probably never hit below $300 unless you can combine with coupons, MIR, and CC % discounted. :D

The only Black Friday deal I ever went out for was a Plano AR-15 gun case with removable foam for $20. I should have picked up two.

I'm hoping to sharpshoot a ~500GB SSD this year since my 240GB isn't cutting it any more.

Looking at deals for:

850pro

3+ TB HDD (not Seagate)

Updated server hardware, like maybe an actual raid card

1150 CPU, and not one of those $5 off deals that's blasted as being 40% off!

Lower power GPU/cpu/mobo combo

Need storage space bad. Hoping to get at least 8 TB's for around $200.

My expectation will be giving out samples of hickory farms meat and cheese for 10 hours while y'all trample each other up and down the mall :p

Why, don,t you look into a small Onkyo system, i got mine for $300 CDN, shipping included,
last year, for small to medium apartment, it's perfect.

Washer/Dryer deals possibly as I know my wife is itching to replace ours. SSD deal (Something around $200 that I can get 2 to raid with.) Other then that most of the stuff is not what I need/want.

A television as a gift for my parents. Costco is having some pretty decent deals, there is a 60 inch Samsung thats going for $600 off although this has been an expensive month so I may have to settle for something a bit less expensive. For me nothing really, I'm seriously considering a Haswell-E/Nvidia 970 system so I don't expect much there, maybe a case or an SSD perhaps.

bfads.net already has some big name ads up like Best Buy and Walmart. I see a TV that my cousin purchased for $2k+, and it will be going for $998 + tax (not in DE where he lives). I like the Logitech G502 + $50 Steam GC for $79.99 deal.
