I was recently at Frys where I saw one of these bad boys and decided to buy it! :D

First of all, this case is a bit different from the pictures and reviews of it I have seen online. Here are a few pics: (Please ignore my messy living room. ;) )

This is a shot through the side of the case, which is mesh. I don't usually like the look of UV lights with case windows, although I think it may looks kinda neat through the mesh.

The mobo tray is removable, and can be switched from ATX type A to ATX type B (BTX?) easily. No screws are required, it is just a matter of flipping some latches.

The side has a removable door with brackets allowing for the mounting of 4 80mm/90mm/120mm/140mm fans.

Here you can see the unique power and reset button, some USB ports (there are more on the front as well as headphone/firewire) as well as one of the built in carrying handles.

I do not have all of my hardware in yet (especially since my vid card is still not back from being RMAd) although I have found that the front (which allows for 9 drives) gives me ample room for DVD drive, 2 hard drives each in a 5 1/4" bay, and a 240mmx12mm rad. I've gone ahead and ordered a NB water block since the one on my DS3 gets hot as hell.

I cannot emphasize enough how HUGE this case is! My previous case (Ultra Microfly) makes this one look particularly cavernous. The construction is spectacular; nearly everything is toolless and all the metal parts are aluminum.

What card are you going to put in this beast? My case is the silver (830) they are
big and heavy but beautiful
 
Well, since I bought mine a few months ago, it seems they've added the grill on the bottom of the case. Beware of tall CPU coolers as they can hit the fan bracket.

Just curious, what waterblock did you get for the DS3 NB, I'm looking for one for mine, and I'm pretty sure the swiftech one I have won't fit.

I ordered the MCW30. I think I might have just replied to your other thread? That reminds me, the block is not held down by screws, rather those little plastic barbed spring clips. The kind where you push them through the hole in the mobo and they clip into place.
 
I don't know if the MCW30 will work, since like you said the Intel MB mounting is done through the hooks on the board, like on the Asus P5B, but the DS3 uses screws to hold down the northbridge, and I don't see the eyelets for the hooks on the board.

Sorry if it sounds like I am rambling, but this has been frustrating me for a little while, I guess I won't be happy til I see a picture of it actually mounted on the board.
 
I am asuming that I will be able to use the AMD style mounting technique shown here:

Swiftech's website states that the above bracket will fit mounting holes that are 53mm-60mm apart, and my crude measurements put the distance between the mounting holes on the DS3 at around 55mm apart. That said, I am still crossing my fingers. ;)

I just realised what you were talking about with the hooks. The DS3 does not use hooks, rather mounting holes.
 
I realized that I would have to try using the Amd mounting kit, but the only other answer I got from someone was that it was too small to fit the distance between screws on the DS3, so I will be watching this to see if yours fits :)
 
OK I took off the heatsink so that I could get a better measurement. The distance is right about 57mm, definitely between 53mm and 60mm. The core of the NB is also fairly small, so I doubt having the NB block installed at an angle will affect performance. Here's a pic with the heatsink off:

that bottom grill looks like an awesome place to mount a 120.2... (don't know dimensions of the grill, but still...)

The grill is a bit oddly shaped: 9mm x 29mm but I'm sure someone could figure something out.
 
Does anyone know if you can buy a window like the above for the silver case 830 thanks?
 
quick question with the 830.. with the side door holding 4x120mm fans.. would it limit me in what HSF i can use due to height ? I am thinking of buying a Tuniq and 830 stacker but not sure if itll work if I use sidepanel with fans.. thx

did that bottom grill came with the case as a stock or did you mod it? mine did not came with it :( it looks nice and i bet can get some air too...

Mine came with it. I guess it is a newer revision or something, although I didn't see anything about a new revision mentioned on the box.

The case is really wide, so I wouldn't think so, although if it was a problem the 4 black 120mm fan holders which snap into the side door come out (shown in the 4th picture) and the whole door can be taken out as well.
 
I think the Black case would look cool with Chrome or Brushed aluminim Grills, I don't really care for the monochromatic look. The Nvidia Version is ok in some pics and gaudy in others, so I would have to see it in real life to judge the looks of it.
 
This is the first case I've ever seen where the inside looks nicer than the outside.

The case looks like crap in the photos, the flash makes smudges show up like whoa, although in person the brushed black aluminum looks pretty slick.

There is room on the front of the case, although you wouldn't be able to install any drives. There is also plenty of room on the bottom of the case; the bottom of the case is suspended above the tabletop by "legs" by about an inch so you would have room for air intake/exhaust, although you would naturally have to do some cutting. Now that I think about it, I may have just found a new rad mounting strategy for myself... hmmm...

I am thinking about maybe mounting the rad inside the case on the bottom and the fans on the outside of the case on the bottom, so that air is sucked out downward toward the floor/desk. The case came with caster wheels that I could install to add additional clearance to the bottom if needed.

Got my parts in today, and the MCW30 fits just fine on the Gigabyte DS3 ;) I am still putting on some tubing, will post some pics when I start leak testing.
