I've been recently trying to find a new antivirus, and Ive settled upon BitDefender, but while I have it running it seems to slow my computer down. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just crazy. Does anyone have any factual evidence on how resource hungry BitDefender is? Thanks.

It's one of the top antivirus programs, joining Kapersky and NOD32 in what I'd call the top 3.

"Factual" proof of performance hit is actually hard to determine though..as many antivirus programs are adaptive in how much RAM and CPU utilization they consume, based on the system configuration, horsepower, and other applications they need to co-exist with.

From what I've seen, Bitdefender is a bit average on the performance hit. If you want very light...I suggest giving Esets NOD32 a try.
