Biostar Shuttle Heat

Ok, i think my biostar shuttle is overheating, shut off on me half way through LoTR's :p anyhoo i heard if you can not keep your hand on the hottest spot of a comp longer than 10-20 seconds then its over heating? didnt bother looking at temps but it was over the warm type temp, its a oc'ed 2.0 (1.6) durron, 9500 np, 1 gig mem, 80 wd hd, curious if i could just put it on higher feet? it only sits like half an inch off my wood table, or should i de clock it or find a better proc? any tips/tricks to help would be helpfull ty

Can you moniter youre temps while playing it? If yes, then do it. If not, try going back to stock speeds and go from there.

P.S. There is no such thing as a Biostar Shuttle. Shuttle is a company that makes SFF systems. Biostar is a different company that also makes SFF systems.
 
yes, i know shuttle is the general term for SFF's im used to calling them shuttles............and i just put it on some wood pegs, heat is at 37 idle ;)

Ok seems there is another problem.....since i cant get the wireless card to fit inside this biostar (hugs right on my vantec hsf for 9500 card) i have a usb wifi thumb drive, for some reason i get this blue screen that comes up with an ass of text, something about the usb port and damage to my computer, anyone ever seen what im speaking of?

the wifi thumb drive is rather warm to the touch dunno if thats normal but anyhoo any information would be helpfull if anyone happens to know what maybe the problem, thanks

what OS? and servive pack?
what drivers are installed?

is the system crashing when you see the blue screen? does it have the words "physical memory dump"?

try speed fan to check temps.

getting a better cpu is a great idea

No... it's not. Stop.

On the BSOD, do you have the correct drivers installed for the thumb drive? It may be damaged, those things are easy to knock around.
 
whats in a name? :confused: anyhoo, its a 1.6 duron@2.0, 1 gig of ram, running fresh winxp install, 9500 np vid card, the blue screen error said something about the usb port saying it was trying to save my computer from being hurt, didnt last long enough to see it all

and i call most sff's shuttles, for a general term, yes i know mine is a biostar brand name, yes i know there are other name brands, but i dont feel like saying "sff" or small form factor, or biostar, shuttle is a good relitive term to describe sff's because they are so well known im trying not to be as n00b as i can get :p


and about my thumb drive, drivers did get installed just fine, for the wifi and my 256 lexar drive and i always remove them properly
