Biostar 6100 Ethernet problems

I had a ton of problems with it as well. My solution was to throw in a cheap pci ethernet card.

Had a problem when a friend came over with his qpack with biostar 6100-939. Apparently flashing the BIOS changed the MAC address so the two were identical. Definitely caused flakey network behavior. Had to manually change the MAC on one of them in Win XP to something different.

there is no solution for the shitty ethernet except to use an addin NIC.... mainly grab yourself a low profile Gigabit NIC throw it in the last slot .. or wait a few weeks till the PCIe x1 NIC become more available.

Does these Flaky Ethernet problems occur int he 754 version of the board? I've just been to a LAN this weekend and i kept having some real issues with the network dropping out and being real slow most of the time....

Don't know for sure, but it wouldn't surprise me. Nvidia forums have quite a few posts from people having trouble with the nic on these boards. Could also be a slight compatability problem between your board and their switches.

Yes, I can confirm it! 6100-M7 sckt. 754 is very, very slow in ethernet operations, lan files copy is fast impossible (I had previous experiences with other boards and there is a huge difference)

I just got my Tforce 6100 - 939 Friday.
The onboard NI was crap right out of the box. No suprises there. I just threw in an extra NIC I had and it was kickin' ass in no time.
I'm pretty happy with this board. Sure the NI is garbage, but for 69.00 at Newegg, you can't beat it.

my old rev board nic works fine. better than both the gbit nics in the ultra-d, actually. testmy.com shows me downloading @ 4.7mb and uploading @ 450kb which is around 20% higher than the average for road runner. also my lan xfers run at 85%. i think its just the new rev boards. still looking for that link.
