BIOS updates and IRST

In the process of a new build, I reached the point of enabling IRST and SSD caching with a 64GB Corsair M4 paired to a Hitachi 1TB SATA3.0 drive. I belatedly remembered to update the BIOS on the P8Z68V board to 0902 (came with 0801.).

The BIOS seemed to take ok, but there were some funky moments in the reboot. I had to go back in and reset SATA to RAID and redo a few other tweaks. I should have updated the BIOS before enabling IRST, but I think everything is ok.

I'm at a point I can start all over if need be. Have I set myself up for instability down the road or is the software installation likely ok?

Edit: I forgot to mention the system wanted to do a repair installation and I let it do so.

Should be fine if you put the settings back to what they were.

I hope so. What concerns me is the system repair. I wonder if I should re-install some of the mobo drivers... since I don't know what it did in the repair option. It might be easier to format and reinstall now that I have the BIOS updated... just to be sure.

Up to you. I don't even bother with SSD caching. I just use my SSD as my main OS/Apps drive and my regular HDDs as storage.

That's what I do on my system too. But this is for a relative and I didn't want to have to deal with them filling the C:\ drive (SSD) with junk files and I didn't want to jack up the cost with a huge SSD. So I thought a hybrid approach would be better.. install a 64GB SSD for caching and a mechanical 1TB drive as a boot drive. I think that will be the best option in this situation.

So my question is this: to update the mobo BIOS, should IRST be disabled?
