Hi,

I got a 4 year old system with a Abit IP35-E motherboard and it has not been able to save the date & time and other settings. Everytime I boot up it I get a CMOS checksum error. At first I thought it was the battery so I changed it but it still happens. I tried to flash the BIOS but it still happens.

Anything else I can do? Does this mean the motherboard is at fault or could it be something else?

If the motherboard is at fault I'm thinking of buying a new one while there are still LGA775 boards in the market ( In the Philippines by the way). Is the Gigabyte G41M-Combo any good? Can't find anymore LGA775 boards with DDR2 slots beside this one.

TIA

Get a new cmos battery..
5$ at radioshack..

Usually a coin shaped 2032 battery

You may have also had the battery in backwards.. u use a new one or pull from another board?

Check your cmos jumper too.. might be set wrong

Hi,

I already changed the CMOS battery with a new one and I'm pretty sure its in the correct orientation but I still tried to flip it just in case. CMOS settings still doesn't save.

I havent touched the CMOS jumper for a long time so it should be in the right setting. But I'll try to clear CMOS via the jumper, hope it does the trick.

But if it doesn't any other suggestions? TIA
