We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

Well when I had a PW problem on my DESKTOP, I took out the battery, but I know the jumper would work too. But I have no idea how you would go about resetting a laptop.

afaik there is no such thing as a master password. sounds like rma time

Actually I'm pretty sure Dell had some sort of master password system on some of their laptops. It wasn't a master password in the sense that there was a single password that worked on every laptop, but if you gave them the serial number or something for your laptop they would give you a password that would unlock the bios. Unfortunately I really don't know much more than that about it. You'll probably end up having to use a jumper to reset the bios. You might luck out and it'll be under an access panel or something so that you don't have to fully disassemble the laptop.

8 Q: I have lost/forgotten/don't-know my computer's BIOS password, what can I do?

A: Unlike desktop computers, most laptops store the BIOS password in a chip that can not be erased simply by resetting the CMOS battery. Dell laptops have a "master password" unique to each machine that you can use if your forget your BIOS password. You must contact Dell via the telephone and after a complete verification of your ownership of the computer, they will provide you with the necessary password.
