If you don't know what a PLL is, then this thread isn't for you (er, if you haven't used CPU FSB or anything like that, anyway).
Anyway, I got a new Barton, and have been playing around with it. I have sufficient cooling for a higher OC, plus, it's a mobile, and can take more heat anyway.
I pulled my old chip out, which was running 11x200@1.95v, and popped the new chip in. I worked right out of the box. I set the voltage waaay down to 1.6v
and it still worked. Then I started messing around with CPU FSB, and even adjusting 2 mhz FSB at a time, couldn't get past 2.4 ghz stable. So, I went back to the tried and true method of using the BIOS, and have it at 2.55 ghz now, still going.
Has anyone ever had any actual use of CPU FSB or any other PLL based in-windows OC software? Is there a trick to retain stability when using a program like this?
