Hey I just got my keyboard up.. Now I need to install the bios.. Currently they are on default.. What do I have to change.. In my manuel it doesn't say because my specs are diffferent.. For instance.. Fan speeds, Ram speeds, CPU shit.. Help?? Keep at default??

Amd Athlon 64 3400+
80GB/200GB Maxtor HDD's
500 Watt Lysiys PSU (Dunno Spelling)
Abit AV8 Mobo
Geforce 6600GT AGP DDR3
DVD / CD-RW Drives
 
It'll detect everything automatically. Overclocking, however, is a wayyyyy different story. I'd just make sure your rams running at at least a CAS latency of 2.5.
 
So wait your saying.. I dont hjave to edit the bios at all? It will detect the speeds of my fans, and everythng?? ram, cpu, and everything else?? I am not gonna overclock!! So thats it huh?? I am just makin sure so my pc doesn't fry, like my cpu getting too hot or anything.. is there anything REQUIRED to set??? thank yu for yur tim
 
Nope, you should be good to go, you don't need to change anything.
 
So I just save the bios and go into windows? How would I know if it is low temp and stuff!!!!
 
You can use your included motherboard cd to install a monitoring program. If you made any chances to the bios, then you need to save them.
 
I want one answer.. Will I be fine to play Counter-Strike Source without editing my bios? It does it all for me???? All I gotta do is hit save and go into windows???!!! And Synenergy I a sorry for ebing rude, I have been very stressed.. I love you :p ..
 
set everything to auto.. you should be fine.. then read around in here to figure out what you are doing so you can maybe change some things in the bios later and see how they affect the computer..

i see you got your keyboard working.. what was wrong anyways?

and are you using hard drives from your old computer that fried? with some old install of windows on it? just so we don't see another thread pop up... windows xp will not work at all if you put the hard drive in another computer..

you should reinstall windows no matter what.. but make sure you don't lose your data..

i would suggest copying everything on the 80gb to the 200gb drive.. then reformatting the 80gb and installing windows on it..

also.. maxtor drives get a little hotter than other drives for some reason in my experience.. so i wouldn't put them right on top of each other...

to see your temps you can download speedfan, everest, or sisoft sandra.. i don't have exact links to them, but they all come up pretty high in the list when you search for them in google.. well.. everest.. hold up.. lavalys i think lavalys.com but maybe not..

My friend said I HAVE to set my cpu fsb and ram speed.. What is my ram speed.. its pc2700 333MHZ and my processor is amd athlon 64 3400+ .. very sorry about this.. im a noobIEEE!!!!!!!

You don't have to set it. It's automatically detected.
 
Alright now.. I saved the bios and the bios screen still cmes up when I boot!! What do I do to go into windows or to install it? Put in the cd?? IDK!!
 
BIOS help.. I just finished my pc.. I start it up and hold tab, then it does a memory test and I press DEL to nter setup.. I dont know what to set in the bios.. anyways I kept it at default and exited and it wouldnt let me in windows.. It kept briging me back to the setup like its incomplete.. Any suggstions??? If I would put my XP CD in will it recognize it????
 
I'm not really sure what you are asking here.
The only thing i can suggest at this point is to post what you're having trouble with
in some sort of organized fashion. We dont have decoder rings or anything.
Most of us are pretty fluent in English. Try that one.

Organized thoughts are your best bet here.

I am willing to stay up a little bit longer to see if I can help at all.
I want to understand what it is that you are actually trying to do.
 
FFS ask things nicely, stop drinking caffeine for like 10 minutes so you can make a respectable post.

BIOS: It'll auto detect everything and run everything by itself, so being at your current computing knowledge (this being very little), i believe it'd be best to just leave 99% of the bios alone and let it do the controlling.

Windows: To install windows onto a blank hard-drive, you have to use the bios. Go into it and look for boot-order options and then make your cd-drive #1 boot device, then save the bios and exit. Start the computer up with the windows cd in the drive and itll start loading off it. Just follow the prompts from there on in.

Afterwards, go back into the bios, change your HDD to your #1 boot device and then save and exit, don't touch anything else.

I'd just like to make it clear im giving you this information to shut you up, not because im a kind person.
 
Got where your stuck.
When you exit the bios you either need to type in "y" or "n" depending on what the last line reads.
Its something like "Do you want to exit and save changes /n" if so type "y" then hit enter.
That will exit and save the changes.

anyways.. I suspect that you might have just changed your hardware without reinstalling OS.. am I right..?

My last question is, I already have windows on my harddrive, So your saying that I can't go into windows? Or I have to make the harddrive first bootup option and then it'll do it??
