Bios flash gone bad, please help

Hi, I've been using my Sapphire X850XT for a couple weeks. It runs fine at 560/640 with absolutely no artifacting. I wanted to flash to a new bios so I didnt need ATi Tray Tools constantly running to apply the overclock and have it adjust the fan speed every startup.

I used the X850Xt-PE Bios because I heard that helps with overclocking a little bit. I set the clocks to 550/630 and did the fan speed controls with Rabit. I used ATI Winflash to flash the card.

It seemed to work fine, but on restart the entire screen is pixelated and multi colored. You can't see anything. Any idea's what went wrong and how I can restore my card?

You cant find the old bios any where to reflash to? And I could CARE LESS what anyone has to say about this...but rma it if all else fails...they suck us for so much fucking cash as it is for a video card..they can eat a few, and YES...even a few million because of "people like me"..well, you in this case...heheheh.

But , yeah...just try and find an original bios.

wow.. that sucks. So after a reboot it's still messed up? the power on post screen is garbage? if so, I would pull the card out of the machine and leave it alone in a safe place for like 24 hours.. that has fixed some ATI cards for me in the past.. then put it back in, see if your post screen looks normal and flash it back to the orginal bios asafp! maybe the memory timings are too agressive for your card.. you would think it would work because you had it clocked beyond that, but cards can be fussy and bioses often change more than just clocks.. anyways.. good luck and let us know how things go!

If you can't get the screen to be normal after letting the card "chill" for 24 hours, find someone with a dual pci-e lane motherboard, and see if they'll let you put your card in pci-e slot #2 and flash the card... that will work because the screen is being handled by the card in pci-e slot #1 and most flashing software is smart enough to let you choose which gpu to flash.

you should be able to find a stock x850xt bios at www.mvktech.net.

There are a lot of X850XT bios' out there, but Im not sure how to do it. I never flashed a card before and its gonna be hard without seeing anything.

u need to get a pci card to see again.. ive never flashed before but.

i think u should of just used rabit to change the clocks to the desired level instead of using a diff bios.

but its too late now so get ur self a pci card .

I have onboard video, so I guess I'm gonna have to take out the x850, set initial display to onboard in bios, replace card, boot it up, and reflash.

Yeah, no biggie. Either that or a cheap pci card would do too.

check that. The onboard video will only work if the video card is not plugged in.

Alright so I just did another flash through dos blindly using a stock Sapphire X850XT PE bios with no luck. Idk why its not working, other people seem to be able to do it fine, but I guess I'll try the regular XT bios now.

Hmm, my bios dump backup from Ati tray tools didnt work either???

grab a non PE x850xt bios from mvktech and try a re-flash. I guess? that's about all you can try unless you can dig up another copy of your old bios.. somehow? hrm... man, that really sucks.. maybe let the card sit for 24 hours like I said.. I have had that "fix" ATI cards before. no joke.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow, but I don't think that will help. Luckily, I did save a copy and just flashed it from Dos with the original but I get a checkered pink screen on boot up.
