I am posting this in part as a hint and in part as a discussion. I would like to see more gaming mice, and one day nearly all of them ship with fingerprint readers. I think its a really good fit. Biometrics have finally become nearly universal in phones and the hardware to get it going is cheap. Its really nice to be able to leave your computer locked and always be able to instantly log in. Same for logging into websites and so on. Its way more secure than the default lets just leave everything logged in.

I think that's a terrible idea, but to each their own. You can find keyboards with built in fingerprint readers, and they are not very popular. They are more common in laptops, but still not much. The reason, I think it somewhat works for mobile devices, is because you can take them with you, circumventing the security compromises biometrics inherently poses. Stand alone readers are also available, but they are a small niche.

I don't think biometrics are secure at all, just more of a convenience thing.
