New i7 970 @ 3.75 won't get bigadv work? I started from scratch with a new folder, but can't get anything more than standard smp. Set packet size to "big", but no other changes in the config. Running with bigadv and smp 12 flags. Tried with just the bigadv flag, but no difference. I have 2 other hexes working well, but this one refuses. Suggestions???

Which OS? Linux apparently had a shortage yesterday, although I finally got a couple later yesterday evening. Do you have advmethods turned on (you shouldn't)? You do need the -smp and the -bigadv flags.

Which version client are you running ??

Stanford has just updated the Windoze SMP client from version 6.30 to version 6.34.
You need to be running version 6.34 to get A5 bigadv units as they have are now stopped A3 bigadv units on version 6.30.

Luck ........... :D

If you follow this guide exactly, you will be properly set up to receive and fold -bigadv units: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1511766

If you don't get one after following those instructions, then it's something on Stanford's end, not yours. Like Tigerbiten said, you also have to make sure you're running the 6.34 client, since -bigadv is no longer available for older client versions.

My Windows machine just grabbed a 2692, so there is bigadv work out there still.

I'm using the newest version, it just won't get work for some reason. It will have to wait for a few days until I get back to it. Thanks for the suggestions.

ppd slaughtered by seemingly pure smp... but hey its still science...
I hope they fix the issues so my monsters can be more productive... terribly inefficient use of so many cores...

I upgraded my 5 of my SMP clients from 6.30 to 6.34 just before my last post in this topic.
They all grabbed new -bigadv A5 work-units as soon as they finished the the small A3 ones they where working on.

If you are not getting A5 work-units just double check the top of your log file that you do have the 6.34 client.
Mine looks like ............
Code:
# Windows SMP Console Edition
#################################################
#################################################
                       Folding@Home Client Version 6.34

                          http://folding.stanford.edu

Luck ............... :D
[H] <- we still need to get the badges fixed.

they all grabbed a5 wu right after I switched them over... but after the first unit they started getting alot more smp than bigadv...

This thing finally got a 6901 after several client restarts. Hopefully it will get another after it uploads tonight. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
