I just got an Intel Core 2 Duo and was using the stock heatsink for a while. I finally took my Big Typhoon off of my old motherboard and tried to mount it up to this one.

In my opinion the mounting options for this thing suck.

My motherboard is bowing slightly, and so far my temps are 8*C higher than on the stock heatsink.

With 2 instances of FAH running on separate cores, the temp is up to 42*C.

I'm hoping that once the Arctic Silver burns in the temp will come down.

Any ideas though on how I can improve this a bit?

The AS5 cure will net no more than 1 or 2C so you need to double check your install or put the stock cooler back on....How much AS5 did ya use and how did ya apply it?

Applied the way I always do, the suggested way.

1/2 grain uncooked white rice sized dab of AS5
Press on the HSF to spread, fasten down evenly.

I think that the problem lies in the mounting options. Because it uses 4 long screws with a back plate, it takes more pressure to hold the thing in place than a normal HSF.

I may end up going back to the stock one.
