I have a big typhonnon on a Opty146 in an Antec Super Lanboy case. Want to do a little modding to the case to increase airflow and drop some temps. Was wondering, I know the typhoons fan blows down throught the cooling fins but would it be any better to have it sucking out. I want to put an exuast port on the side and have it suck the heat out insted of blowing dow onto the motherboard. I will have a better cooling solution for the north bridge at some point. Oh the board is an ASrock dual SATA2. Figured if I can get better aiflow with the addition of better fans it shouldn't matter that the typohoon is sucking instead of blowing. Right now I idle at 38C and load around 48 to 50C. Temps aren't really a problem but want better aif flow in the case. Any suggestions, Thanks.

I wouldn't mess with the stock configuration I'm sure they've thought & tested that out at thermaltake much more than anyone reading this thread.

Hi Bill, why don't you try it out and see if the temps will drop idle and full load.
It shouldn't be that hard to flip the fan on the Typhoon and make non permanent changes to the case such as taping cardboard side cover and making paper duct.
And if you ever do that pleaseeeee share the result :)

It would be better to leave it blowing down and make the side port an intake rather than an exhaust. That setup generally works the best.

yeah blowing works better

the problem is when your pull air out via a fan, it draws the air from all 180 degrees, so the actual displaced air doesnt feel like much, where as when your blowing the air, via a fan, the fan creates a column which doesnt get disperced until it hits the bottem of the heat sink, in which case it separates left and right.

so yeah, your temps with the fan sucking instead of pushing air from/against the heatsink, will suck... litterally and metaphorically
