Big Ten Joins Google Book Project

[HardOCP News]

Google's book scanning project got a huge boost when twelve major universities offered to digitize portions of their libraries to work towards the goal of having a shared digital repository.

The partnership involves the Committee on Institutional Cooperation, which includes the University of Chicago and the 11 universities in the Big Ten athletic conference (yes, there are 11): Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin.

Heh, anyone else get a laugh from the 11 colleges in the "Big 10"?

[GJSNeptune]

No. There were ten until Penn State was added in 1990. You want them to change the conference name? The Big Eleven sounds dumb.

Also, if you look at the logo, there's actually an "11" in it.
