Remember that super camera called the Big Red One that was debuted earlier this year at the National Association of Broadcasters? The thing was made by the founder of Oakley and prototypes are in the final stages. While most of us would never have a use for that much camcorder, it sure is cool to look at.

Ok im retarded and dont get it. Is this thing just a big giant lens that you plug camera parts into? Whats so special about this lens over other lenses that makes it so super?
 
It's for the professional and independent film industry, not your average joe. It is to replace most standard film cameras and HD cameras such as those that shoot HDCAM. It is true 4K resolution (1080p is under 2K). Being modular reduces the price and allows you to easily customise the camera to fit your needs.

It is supposed to be the next big thing for the independent film industry since the price will be so low compared to the current $100k+ camera systems.

Right now it shows promise, but there are still many problems, such as stuck pixels as can be seen in the test video. It does have lots of potential and many are keeping a close eye on it.
 
Is sure is sexy, just like everything else Mr. Jannard designs :)
 
I happen to live 2 miles from the main Oakley facotry in Lake Forest, CA. Wasnt this the camera that was stolen? I remember something about it being in the news.
 
Just wanted to add that if it was stolen then it is pretty identifyable if you ask me.
