i got my computer in the mail today, and i opened it up, started it, and i have 5 somewhat major problems

1) The POST shows that there is only 128MB of ram, but that is impossible, since I have WinXP

2) The bottom and left .5" of the screen (ViewSonic E70FB) show no color or anything. I don't think this is a resolution issue, and I have installed the latest nVidia drivers

3) While playing UO, it all of the sudden errors and shuts down the program. Error report claims it is a driver issue.

4) my speakers only play sound out of the front 3 speakers and sub, although i configured the settings to support 5.1 channel audio

5) I have random restarts, because I think that the mobo thinks my computer is getting too hot. I turned down graphical settings in Ultima Online, but still no result. No restarts during Call of Duty.

Anything would help, i am rather worried about this

Is that the computer in your sig?

If you just got it, make sure windows is reinstalled, (clean fresh install doesnt hurt) A lot of your problems could come from that.

How many sticks of ram do you have?

Adjust your monitor settings, you may need to adjust the funky back and forward, and stretching the center etc.

If it just one little area thats no good, its possible the monitor needs and RMA.

Does call of duty use ogl? (i think it does but i havent gotten it yet). What api does UO use?

Need more info.

Do i ahev to backup files and reinstall everything if I reinstall windows, or do I just pop in the CD and reinstall? Ill save that for last

i dont know, but this card has support for both OGL and DX9B, dont know about UO
Need more info.
how much more do you wnat? i included all i could.

i also reinstalled every driver that I had that came with the computer.

EDIT: got the speaker and monitor problems solved. 2 down, 3 to go

Who did you buy your comp from?

Monitor needs some adjusting in the corners if it has those kinds of controls, otherwise it's crap and needs RMAing.

Open up the comp and check the ventilation/airflow. How many fans does it have? Is the proc decently cooled?

I dunno about the RAM, what does Windows XP say in Properties?

And it's not impossible to not have 512 MB of RAM just because you're using XP, ya know.

Post back and let us know what's up.

Persoanly, I would take the video card out, and the processor and reset them. Then do a fresh reinstall for xp and drivers.

that's fixed

one side blowhole over card, 2 led fans in back, one blowhole on top. my idea was to switch a fan from the back blowing out to the front pulling in. The processor has the stock heatsink(presumably, looks like aluminum) and a coolermaster fan.

i know, but it isnt possible to have 128, either, since WinXP requires 256
Post back and let us know what's up.
thanks.

XP requires 128 MB ram for installation.
I installed it on old pox (P2) and the left 32 MB in it after the install. Still works fine.

yeh. it def. doesn't require 256 for anything.
i've run xp on a lot less than that. don't have a single machine that has more than that.

try benching the ram in another machine? see if it posts right in there

i dont have another machine to bench the RAM in, but i think I solved that problem. my biggest problems are now that I get random restarts while I am playing Ultima Online. I think that it is a heat problem, but I would think that my system would bet hotter playing CoD than UO.

use aida32 or something of the like to check your temp.
what was the problems anyway?
