big adv shortage?

Here's the thing, on my machines i get nearly the same PPD on SMP as I do on Bigadv:confused:

This can be true especial if you get some of the new a4 WU's 70XX they produce almost as many PPD as 6900 on my rigs and they out produce a 2684 by about 15%

each of my bigadv rigs have lost 5000 to 10000 PPD. Even the best of the smp WUs I have got was at best 33KPPD, I usually get 38 to 40KPPD.

some are admittedly better than others. some smp wus are down around 22KPPD, which nearly halves the PPD for that machine.

This is getting really irritating.

Same here...although for some of the machines the ppd is exactly the same as when they're running 268x ones. There was a bigger difference on the 2p box I have running versus the sandy bridge ones though.

I did get some bigadv units this morning, all 268x.

right the smp values are nearly as broken as the bigadv was... the lower end 2p boxes dont notice as much a difference as the bigger once smp vs bigadv... I am coasting right now...

Yeah remember that the bonus is not linear, its exponential. Throw 24 thread at a SMP WU with time frames of 1 minute something and you really start busting out some points. Not sure on the mix at the moment as both machines are linux, have no monitor attached and run v7. Have seen some ridiculous points values come through though

Is this affecting Linux? I tried to start a Linux VM but got a smp Wu.

On my 970's and 980X rigs the 7000 through 7028 a4 WU's have time frames of 1min. 20sec which give me around 59,000 PPD which is about equal to a 6900 bigadv and around 15,000 more PPD than a 2684.

I've had a couple of those, but I've had more 481 pointers which kill my PPD.... I'd love to have some 2684s.... that would be an improvement for me.

(never thought I'd be happy to have a 2684 :()

Got one machine running smp and one machine running 2684. Better than nothing but the 2684 on the slower machine - so I am worse off:mad:

Its affecting everything. From what i can gather the 69xx server is completely borked and will be offline until kasson can get it fixed and clear all the corrupt WU. In the meantime the 26xx -bigadv server is working as normal but all clients are being directed to that so demand far outstrips supply. At least rigs are picking up other work to do. Not too long ago they would just sit there and do sweet FA

Exactly! I'll take an SMP standard over an idle client any day.

Agreed. Last time there were issues with bigadv, there were many clients sitting idle. Falling back to SMP is much preferred.

Also, I just picked up a P6900 a few minutes ago. Let's hope the server issues are behind us now...

my 970 picked up another bigadv a couple of days ago, but my 950 has been eating a steady diet of SMP :(

One of my machines picked up a.....drum roll................................2684 today. Unfortunately, it was one of my Lynnfield I7s, and not one of the 2600K. That particular machine makes about the same PPD with SMP standard as with 2684. With the 2600K machines, there's a big difference.

You could switch the client folders, but I don't know if that is recommendable.

sneakernetting is allowed though not recommended... as your likely to lose the unit... id just let it fold it out...

my 970 pulled a 2684 this morning (much to my excitement)

but my 2600K just pulled a 6900.... maybe we are out of the woods on this......

We may be back to normal now. All my SMP clients have -bigadv units now, two 6900s and two 2684s.

crosses fingers. one of my big adv machines has a 6900 other one is about to finish its smp unit
