I'm being offered Muskin PC3500 Dual 2x256MB DDR 433MHZ LII BH-5 sticks for $275.00 CDN This a decent price or no?
 
I'd say yes as I am not gonna let my 2x 512mb of the same stuff go for anything below $400 us.
 
Damn....I remember paying 139USD for my 1 stick of 512mb of PC3500 Mushkin lvl 2.... These are some temptations :O , could get me a gig of some decent stuff for Farcry ;)
 
All i know is that newegg.com still has Kingston HyperX pc3000. recently bought the 1 gig dual channel kit for $220 USD and today I took the heatspreaders off to discover they are BH-5.

I bought 2x seperate 1.1 sticks for $100 each. I met some nice guys on the boards that really don't give a rip and wanted to upgrade/go dual channel anyways :)

Marc113- .. DFI NFII, Barton and BH-5. you plan on pushing that system? that will go way past "3200" dude.
 
That ocz stuff, while a good, CHEAPER alternative, simply cannot compete with the performance of bh-5. My bh5 can outperform any bench I have seen out of the eb stuff. They broke 3800 unbuffered? phffff I have broken 4000mb/s. They break 6300...so? bh5 can do 6500-7200 as evidenced by macci. they can do 2.5-3-3-6 at 500mhz...big deal, bh5 can do 2-2-2-5. You see, it can't outperform it until around 600mhz 2.5-3-3-6 probably. Even then I have seen bh5 over 600mhz on xtreme.....

EB may be the future, but its not ready yet. bh5 is worth the money.

its worth about $390 to $430 depending on usage. If you lose, LMK and I'll sell you mine for $400 priority shipped with full insurance.

I want to push it but with my current cooling setup, it usually runs at like 38 in my room. When i put it in the basement it runs at 28.
 
Whoa that's expensive. Bought a 512 stick of XMS 3200C2 (BH-5) on newegg a month ago for $120USD. That's about $150CDN. Although lately, the ram prices have soared... now those sticks are $160 :(

however they arent guaranteed bh-5 I paid 300 for my gig pack 2 months ago
on another note you dont have to remove the heat spreaders to see that they are bh-5 all you have to do is lift a corner and you can read the bh-5

You take it to PMs and ask for refs. If he has good refs, honestly i dont think there's much to worry about. If it smells fishy/doesn't feel right, don't trade.

1:1 DDR? i.e. 250mhz fsb x 2? Sounds reasonable to me...
 
I believe that (after all mine does 263 x 2 ) but I think what he was saying was that "I just opened it for testing its brand new and I slammed 3volts into them and see how far they could overclock".


Wait a second, theres no way those 512mb sticks can do 500mhz 2-2-2-5 with only 3v.......no way in hell. 256mb sticks maybe.....my mushkin are among the best overclocking sticks I have seen and they take 3.3v to do 500mhz 2-2-2-5. 3v is just not happening.

Anyway, yes thats a great price for BH-5 considering it's really hard to find nowadays.

my 512's take 3.3 to do 500 mhz as well. I've never tried it any lower, so i can't confirm whether or not that is the case ;D
 
Unless you can get RAM with BH-5 chips for not alot more then the rest i would suggest waisting your money on it. I've tested both and i'm using Mushkin PC3200 lvl 1 w/ CH-5 chips now set a 2-3-2-5 and especially if you have a P4 rig there's no reason not to use a divider and leave you RAM at stock with dual channel enabled. I got my 1GB of lvl 1 about a month ago for $203. Since then prices have went way up.

If you have an Athlon XP setup then it may be worth it if you have money to burn since running async can hurt performance quite a bit. Even then though i would probably just buy some of that cheap Kingston HyperX PC4000 instead. BH-5 has gotten way to expensive to count as a worthy purchase. If you can find it cheap though then great.
