ok i just got 4 512 sticks of pny (i know  , i got them free with gift cards from work) , so im puttin them in my new build and i notice BH-5 :D. crucial ballistix dims read 0426 mt tg 1-1 46v32m8 -5b g. mine are the same except they are 0548. they are completly stable at 200 2.5,8,2,4 on divider giving me 2.64 ghz on opty 148 i got them up to 220 3,4,4,8 not stable though.my divider or memory mhz is holding me back from 2.?. from what i have read these are pretty good bh-5 at least.i dont want ta give more volts and fry them just yet ,dont have the cash for more ram now lol. but i think more volts will bring better latency ? not sure . oh pc3200 @2.65v stock 5.17 on 5v rail.any help much appreciated.

that's not bh-5 my friend, that's micron 5b G ;)

give em a go at 2.5-2-2 and 3-3-3, with around 2.9-3v and active cooling.
just for kicks, can you take a picture of the chips? :D

hey eclipse ill take a picture this weekend, will the etra volts hurt the dims without cooling,i have a zallman bracket cooler ,arm that screws on pci slots with 90mm fan would be about 2" over ram would that do?

yeah, a 92mm fan should do, as long as it's pointed over the sticks and the chips don't get too hot. don't go too much over 3v though, especially not for long term use.

will the extra volts increase latency or mhz, i need about 15 to 20 more mhz but wanted good timings, dont we all :p , also should increase stabillity right?

well, it'll increase the max stable mhz with given settings.. either you're stable or not, you can't "increase" stability :p

ok ill get it set up this weekend and take pics thanks for the info eclipse. ill start by volt increase with tight timings and go up 5 mhz on bus at a time ,test memtest 5 a couple of passes then prime 95 for 8 hrs till i hit celing 2.8v to start ok?

I had this image of the sky parting and angels with trumpets playing and Jesus coming down to deliver BH-5 to all of us as a present for keeping our violence virtual and not real and stuff

haha no doubt, ok so i tried 2,2,2,7 at 2.85v and no boot  ,had ta clear cmos. then i tried 2.5,2,2,7 2.85v and walla it worked ,next 2.5,2,2,7 8.5v 220 front side bus just for the heck of it, so impatient :p , and crapped out, clear cmos again. then i said lets see just for kicke 2.5,2,2,7 at stock volts( 2.65) and whatta you now IT WORKS :D havent primed long yet just an hour, and played bf2 for 3.5 hours strait ,seems ta really like it gonna prime tonight and hopfully do some benchies tommorow pics commin soon.http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2226&p=2 heres where i got the crucial ballistix dim info mine are the same except 0548 instead of 0426.any way 2.5.2,2,7 at 39.99 a stick makin completly stable opty 148 @ 2.65 aint to bad and not really stressin everything out to much i love my new box :D

tried to take pics but camera wouldnt do it gonna try scanner tonight, dont know how hot they were,no way to take or get reading and didnt try ta touch them didnt think about it  thanks for the ballistix info gonna fool around some more with them.

max a BH-5 chip will take is 4v. It is phyisicly impossable for a chip to take 8v a memory chip anyways. It would burst into flames with voltage that high unless it was desined to but no chips are. BH-UTT's run normally at even 3.8 and 4v but beond its unsafe. Back off if it makes errors. Even the most tollarent chip made has a limit. 4v is very extreme is what made BH-5's so great. But everything has a limit. Good luck finding a board that will even survive 5v with a mod. DFI board does 4v and thats it. 8.5v would prob blow some caps or the vchip that supplys the VDIMM with power right off your mobo. lol :D

i'll be willing to bet it's a typo and he meant 2.85v.

and besides, we already estabished that it's not even winbond, but micron 5b G :D

yup 2.85v your right eclipse and thanks for takin the time to respond to my question, you should charge for your replies :D. nomatter what i do its not stable over 200mhz ,not even 201, but im using 4 double sided sticks and thats a lot of stress on the memory controler so im not to messed up about it . evga is comming out with a new bois for my nf41 board and its supposed ta have more dividers or more settings like dfi (hopefully  ) so im pretty happy ,oh 2.5,2,2,7 quit prime 95 after 10 hours, im trying 2.5,2,3,7 now both at 2.65v thanks again eclipse you rock bud :D , are your 512 ballistix still holdin up thats what i really wanted but didnt have the cash now.

I give my BH-UTT @ 8.5v daily. I use the DFI 12V jumper to get it, and it takes it like a slave. DDR700 2-2-2 shows DDR2 who's boss, although the house fan on my side of my case gets kind of annoying.

if it's not stable with a single mhz bump over 200mhz, chances are it's the bios, not the hardware :p (or else it could be a huge coincidence that 200mhz is where your memory controller craps out with 4 sticks..)
and glad to hear that it's working well for you. i really <3 my ballistix, some of the most flexibile ram i've ever laid my hands on
