Mods, if this is not the right forum, please advise...

I originally ordered a BFG 800W power supply with 4 pci-e 6 pin connectors from newegg on 3/26. I sent the rebate in immediately. The next day I opened the box & the power supply lid was bulging. There was no original damage to the box shipped by UPS nor the outside of the BFG box, but the actual PS had a bent, bulging cover and a dented in back.

I contacted BFG who agreed to RMA it. A few days later (quick service) I had a new power supply.......but the WRONG one. This is the cheaper, no longer carried by newegg 800W with only 2 pci-e x6 connectors. I told bfg, and they agreed to RMA. THe whole point of this RMA was to get the correct power supply.

Today, I received the replacement for the replacement power supply and they sent me the SAME ONE BACK AGAIN, STILL The wrong powersupply.

Does anyone have contacts at bfg to get this fixed fast? I have been w/o a server since my last powersupply died and because of these screwups, I'm going to have to wait at least another week before finishing my server.

Has BFG always been this bad?

JonGerow is the BFG PSU guy who posts on here alot lately.
I'd PM him and give him the tale and he'll probably do you right.

Human beings make mistakes.
BFG got you the RMAs pretty quick, too bad the model was wrong.....errrrrrrrgh.

Are you saying they sent you back the exact same power supply you sent them, right down to the serial number on the chassis !!?

I do not know, but they sent me the same model. I did not note the serial # on the first incorrect PS

Ok.. The one with four PCIe is the same as the one with two PCIe but with two PCIe connectors added.

Despite this, the one with two PCIe is a different part number than the one with the one with four PCIe. There's an "LE" at the end of the part number.

If the one you bought from Newegg had an "LE" at the end of the part number, I have NO IDEA why they would send you one with two PCIe because that's actually a different part number, unless they didn't know the part number of the unit you were trying to RMA.

If you have the unit with FOUR PCIe, you should be doing an RMA for a BFGR800WPSULE. Otherwise, you're going to get a BFGR800WPSU (note the lack of "LE" at the end). If you just tell them that "hey, I've got an 800W BFG power supply" without using the part number, I would think that they might be trying to RMA the old part number because there are more of those on the market.

Without this "LE" at the end of the part number, support doesn't know to send you a PSU with four PCIe connectors.

So what is it that you told support that you needed an RMA for? Did you tell them that you had an "800W" or did you give them a part number? What does your invoice from Newegg say? Does it have "LE" at the end or is it the regular "BFGR800WPSU" part number?

Yes it has the LE at the end/4 pci-e connectors. The 2nd RMA was ONLY to change part numbers yet they sent me the same part number again.

I did not "tell" them I had an 800W, however when I filled out the web form (first attempt at rma), I think that is what happened. When I got the e-mail back from support via the web form, it just showed "800W" (I did not notice this, and even if I did I would have figured they would have seen the LE on the part # I sent them & sent me back the same one). After I got the wrong, one, I replied to support with this mail:

Hello,

I have received back the power supply and it is not bent, but it is
the WRONG ONE.

You sent me BFGR800WPSU when I sent you BFGR800WPSULE

Can you send me out the correct one with a return label to send this one back???

Thank you!

Support replied:

I replied

After this, I did not receive the electronic pre-paid return label. I mailed them again and was told it would come within 24 hours, not immediately. The next day it showed up in my e-mail box, I packed it up & shipped it out. Yesterday the part came back. Same wrong part number.

Hello,

I just received the WRONG PART BACK AGAIN!!!!

This is now TWICE that bfg support/rma have sent me the WRONG (cheaper) PART.

Can you please issue yet ANOTHER RMA and SHIP ME THE RIGHT PART TODAY?
I don't know how hard this is, but this is now going to be ANOTHER
weekend I have no server.

I originally RMA'd a BFGR800WPSULE with 4 Pci-e 6 pin connectors.

You keep shipping me back a BFGR800WPSU with 2 pci-e 6 pin connectors.

I ordered form newegg 3/26/2008 and received the original powersupply
3/28/2008. It is now April 18th and I still do not have a correct
model, working power supply!!!

Please do whatever is necessary to get me the correct power supply
ASAP. Is there any way I can personally drop by the aurora or lake
forest locations and pickup the correct power supply?? I really need
this for this weekend!

Thank you,

I also added my name, work/cell phones, etc and haven't gotten anything back (not even an e-mail).

JonGerow, Thanks for responding in this thread. As you can see I'm quite frustrated. I just want back the same power supply that I bought so the server that has been sitting in my closet useless for the past 3 weeks can be used. I'm willing to burn $20 in gas + 1-2 hours of time to have the power supply this weekend so I can build the server. This whole episode so far has meant that I probably won't consider bfg for any of my computing needs in the future. I can understand a bad ps from the factory. That is part of life. I can accept getting the wrong part back. More bad luck. But getting the wrong part back twice is no longer acceptable and screams "incompetence".

Edit:
JonGerow, if you need names of reps, rma #'s, tracking #'s, etc, please let me know and I can provide these. I also have the receipt from newegg that I can provide if you need this to get me the right power supply.

things happen yes but once they do and they realize it, I think they should go above and beyond. You sent them a PSU. Do you really have to spell out what you're sending them to send you the right one back? It looks like they're rushing their business but not for your benefit. GL.

No problem. I've filled in Jeff K (he's kind of our "support liason") and sent him a link to this thread. He'll probably get a hold of you via PM, but for "double assurance" feel free to PM me all of your info as well.

The whole "LE" thing is kind of weird since we did "the change" (adding the two additional PCIe connectors) mid-production only about two months ago, but that's really no excuse.

Unfortunately, finding out about this on a Friday night makes this hard to take care of over the weekend since the office is closed and nobody's shipping. :( It will get taken care of ASAP though.

I have pm'ed you.

Guys we should give some props to JonGerow for quick response. It's really nice to have a rep in this forum. I have pm'ed him my info and we will see how things go.

Nice to see the BFG guy here to help.
But Jesus, can't these support guys read.......WTF. Three separate RMAs and you keep getting the wrong part.

I'd be tearing my hair out by now.

Update:

My dealings with the 2 reps on this board have been stellar. Both Jon Gerow & Jeff.Kozlowski have been of the upmost help. I received the New In Box powersupply with full retail accessories & a t-shirt before I sent the last one back. THey actually just gave me a pre-paid shipping label to send the old one back again. I will be shipping it out tomorrow.

Thanks alot guys, for taking care of this so quickly.

Props!
