Hello,

First i would like to start buy saying this forum is awesome found so much useful info here i cant even start to say thank you.

Now to my issue hehe, i have the above graphics card and i think it is running hot. It idles at 51 according to everest and gpu-z with fan speed at 65%,
if i start to play rainbow 6 vegas four about an hour it hits 80 according to everest. I ran atiTool and it recorded it at 91 after 15 mins of running and everest
said 81. Now my concern is that i don't want the card to overheat and i don't want to void my warrenty.

I am currently running a Thermaltake shark case with all the stock fans inside it (planing to upgrade the fans soon)) Anyone else have a suggestion as
to why its getting so hot if the temps are normal or should i be concerned?

Maybe download rivatuner and turn the fan up?

My Oced BFG 8800GT gets up to 65c while playing COD4 and also running a dual display. 65c is about the max I get.

Not to jack this post from you but does anyone know the max temp your 8800GT should get?

But as I said before, i'd DEFINENTLY turn that fan up becuase I don't think it's good to get that hot.

well those temps are with fan 100% and 100% load

My parents have the BFG 8800GT OC version and in their case it hits 80C during 3dmark runs...it's insane, but they never really push it that hard. For a gamer though, I'd consider adding a fan to the side panel if possible that will blow straight at the card. That how I used to control my temps before I got after market cooling.

I had two of the same card as you have. I would see those cards hit about 75-80 C during gaming, so I had purchased the AC Accelero S1 Rev 2 coolers. One for each. These coolers have raving reviews and my reduce your temps by 20 to 30 C. So one of these coolers might do the trick for ya. Typically these things are kinda tricky to find and range in price from about $22 to $30 including shipping and also not including shipping.

Coincidentally, I decided to give the 9800GX2 awhirl. So I have two of these coolers NIB if anyone is interested in purchasing. :) I would like to get $54 shipped for both or $28 shipped for one.

that will void my warrenty thou.

There is nothing you can do about it unless you want to void your warranty.

My card hits slightly lower temps probably because of better airflow in my case, idles from 51-54 depending on ambient temp and that's with the fan at 40%

ok i bought this and put it on screw the warrenty if i need to RMA i will put the stock back on and send it in.

idle temps 37 max load 52

I love the look of that cooler, I think I am going to stick with getting the Arctic Cooling S1 though just for the price factor.

A big hunk of copper sure looks awesome though, so I guess I'll see what I end up with.

well after the thermalpaste set it my idle temp is 34 and max load is 50 couldnt be happier
