Would this work as a dedicated PPU? I had thought I read somewhere that anything below a 8800 GT isn’t worth it, true?
 
Anything 8-series below an 8800GT isn't worth it because it's too slow. Anything below an 8 series doesn't support CUDA, meaning it won't physically work as a PhysX card. Your 7900GTX is physically incapable of PhysX.
 
Still a nice card, but will not work for physX as mavalpha pointed out.

Damn you CUDA and your unsupported ways, makes sense since nV didn’t own AGIEA at the time my video card was new.. Now to check if eBay or Craiglist will yield me any monies for this thing...
