you do know you can't use SLI unless you have 2 6800U/GT pci-e cards and a nforce3 (although prolly 4) mobo that actually has 2 slots?

Congrates dude, I wish I could get my hands on either top line card. F#$&

cool deal ..I have one of these on pre-order ...wont see it until end of July it appears tho ..booo

The heatsink... I wish it was blowing the OTHER WAY, kind of like the VGA silencer.

Ok,Im running into a slight problem.Everything seems to be fine upon booting,no error beeps,ect..ect.Bios loads find, but when its just about to check for HD,or CD im getting a black screen.Heres my system specs:

That uses 2 slots ... you can't SLI it unless you have a mobo with 3 slots or mod the cooling to fit in 2 slots ...

Get into BIOS and try to load default values ...

wouldn't they overlap onto somewhere else of the board? seeing as the fan doesn't have to fit in the slot

Cleared CMOS,and loaded defualts before i even went to boot.Note:BIOS for card isnt showing up before mobo bios usually loads, but i am getting video signal.

double check that you pluged in both molex connectors for the card, i think the 6800 requires 2 does it not ? ..

Check all your cables including the dvi/vga adapter if you are using one. If that doesn't work put your old vid card back in and see if it works.

Wow that must suck. I'd go on a baby eating rampage if that happened to me.

Babies, huh. You're a sick bastard.

I'd satisfy myself by holing up in a tree near a highway and sniping a few unsuspecting commuters. Oh wait, I think someone's already thought of that....

Good luck with the new card, bro.

Checked all cables, both molex are connected, updated bios, called BFG.Nothing worked.Im using apple lcd monitor, with a ADC to DVI adapter.(works fine on every card and computer i owned)I dont have VGA port on monitor,or i would have tried the vga adapter, but doubt thats the problem because im getting video, just after bios posts and i go to boot off HD,or CD the screen just goes black.Sold my old card so im SOL till i figure this out.I hope i figure this out so i dont have to call BB and take someones preorder.

try setting your AGP to 4x in the BIOS then try again man.
If I remember right the ASUS board is real picky with video cards...however Ive only heard of that problem with a x800...so theres a first time for everything :)

Just installed my BFG 6800 Ultra OC... seemed to have the same problem as you.

Here is what I did....

Wait till the screen goes black....

Go outside and have a smoke....
(In other words wait for nearly 5 minutes if ya don't smoke)

Go back to Computer... which is now in VGA Mode at login screen...

Log in and install drivers.

It just takes XP a long time to revert to VGA mode for some reason.

Be Patient.. hopefully this will work for you

ahh that makes more sense now, i bet the video card is using a default refresh rate higher than your lcd can see, usually the video card detects if your runing a lcd and lowers the refresh rate since you dont have a VGA monitor laying around it will be hard to test out.. hmmm

if the LCD deal is true...your screwed unless you can get it to accept a rate that works...which should be possible.
Also on a side note try disableing fastwrites in yoru BIOS if there is the option

hmm it would be cool if you had a friends monitor to try out... i guarantee that is the problem... personally i always keep a standard VGA monitor on my test bench..

The wifey has a monitor with dvi,and vga,so im gonna try hers. The odd thing about this idea is that i currently dont have an os installed. And this is happening even before windowsxp cd boots. It goes black before the booting off cd....... screen even appears. But im gonna try and see, keep ya posted.

That's badass. Too bad I cancelled my order. I'm just gonna wait a few weeks before reordering. I have some cc bills I need to get paid off.

Sweet pics. Thanks.

Your the smart one, i have debated and debated canceling my order and waiting for Ati Next gen card, imagine radeons performance levels with sm 3.0 AND 3dc combined.

It was my monitor.I hooked up my wifes monitor with the vga adapter, and the screen didnt go black.I dont know if i should be happy the card works,or be depressed that i have to buy a new monitor.Sucks i payed 800 bucks for this monitor.Guess i will go all out and get a 23" widescreen.I know i could work around this, but honestly Im not gonna swap monitors everytime i want to reformat.

Glad it worked, soon as you menchined LCD i knew what the problem was... does suck though.. Dell 2100fp is a kick ass LCD 16ms response times, its expensive at 900 though, however viewsonic makes an exellent 19inch crt pf95 or something like that.. max res of 2048x15xx... but yeh i feel for ya.

This is what i get for buying another apple lcd just so my G4,PC look the same, and have matching monitors,I actually sold my mitsubishi 19" to a family member because i bought these two apple lcd's.Dont get me wrong the apple lcd quality is top notch, but i think the refresh rate isnt enough for this 6800

try selling it on ebay or something... pcgamer and maximum pc both rated the dell 2100fp one of the best gaming LCD around, 16ms response time will clear up the bluring nicely... the dell 2100fp is essentially a viewsonic 201b err il have to check the actuall numbers .. the dell is cheaper though, but both are max res of 1600X1200.. 16ms response times 400:1 contrast ratios i think... 20 inches viewable.

If i do buy another monitor i want one that looks like the apple.Or atleast has some silver in it.Sony has one thats close, but im not impressed by its specs.

just make a ghost image of your hd after xp installs and the LCD works. then when you want to format, bring that image back. easy workaround

Im not even getting past the (boot from cd) screen, therfore no drivers are even being loaded.hence nothing would work, the monitor is just not compatible with this video card. The only way i could use this monitor would be in dual display mode.I would have to use another monitor to boot into windows and manually change settings everytime i reboot.Im not even 100% sure that would even work.

what do you think of the above silver model, has silver in it and is a exellent gaming LCD...

Dont get me wrong the pics you linked are all nice monitors, and i appreciate you effort in helping look for good quality monitors, but i dont think theres many monitors out there that have the look of the apples. If i cant find a good gaming monitor rhat looks like my apples,im gonna buy the best gaming monitor out there.EDIT: think i should get a SG?EDIT: Im gonna take a pic of my case and host it on the link on my first post, check it out and tell me what monitor would look good.

Ok something interesting here, i went to apples web site and from what they said there the ultra should support their video signal... let me investigate a lil more maybe we can find a solution.

I talked to BFG they said that somewhere during bootup the card and the monitor are not getting the correct signals(something along those lines.)I know it sounds stupid, since my old BFG 5900XT worked fine in this same setup.I think that only some sort of apple adapter,or possibly i bios update for the card, would be the only thing that would fix this, but its not worth it,and i doubt nvidia would bother doing a bios update just for a apple monitor, its just pointless.I have to buy another monitor plain and simple.

try something just for kicks, hook your apple back, boot your computer, when it goes blank, manually change the refresh rate via your monitor controls, raise it and see what happens. Just a hunch
