Hello! Thanks for a very informative and interesting forum.
I've been reading up on this forum about videocards and decided to buy the BFG 6800oc from outpost.com.http://shop3.outpost.com/product/4082672 It seems like a good price on a good card.
The card in the picture is different from the one on BFG's site http://www.bfgtech.com/6800OC.html

Does anyone know if the one from outpost.com is an older model with a different fan/heatsink? Does it still come with "Far Cry" bundled?

Thanks a lot :)

You have not posted the links correctly.

The first blank where you enter text is what appears in yellow inside your post.
It can be anything you want.
The second one that appears after you hit ok is the actual address of the link.

After copying a pasting the addresses into my address bar:

The pic at outpost.com is of the old pre-Doom 3 version.
It is often said that the cooler on this card is better than the newer version that you see at BFGs site.

As for Far Cry, e-mail them and ask them to make sure.

I havent seen the single fan cards in a while on store shelves. THe ones that are most common these days are the dual fan cards. Im not having a problem with my dual fan card so I am not worrying about it.

Whoops! Sorry. Thanks for pointing out the mistake with the links .They should work now.I've tried to e-mail both outpost and BFG but haven't heard anything back.I just thought that someone on this forum might have bought this card from outpost.com recently, it seems like a good price and all.
So both these versions are good then? Hmm, Far cry bundled would be good.

I would bet that Outpost, just hasn't updated the picture on the website. These cards sell pretty fast, so I doubt they have any Pre-Doom3 cards left.

Yes both are the same, it is just that the one at outpost is shown with a stock cooler. The newer ones (like the one I have) have the dual fan hsf. Hopefully you will get lucky like I did and be able to unlock the extra pipes and vertex shader and overclock it :).

Unfortunately I can't answer as to which one you will get since I got mine at BB due to my other video card crapping on me. I was looking at buying it from outpost before that happened :(.

Actually, that's not quite right.

Originally, BFG started shipping their 6800s with JUST the reference cooler. EXACTLY the reference 6800 non-ultra/6600 cooler, with Nalu on it and everything - no BFG branding. They switched to "their" two-fan design shortly into production - but there were problems with it. In cases with poor cooling, there were reports of overheating. Lots of complaints of heat problems on nVNews and other forums - apparently, a lot of people RMA'd them for that reason.

The current production BFG 6800s are using the "reference" 6800 GT single-fan design, but with the 'BFGTech' stickers and branding on them. The single-fan one with the BFG stickers is ACTUALLY the one you want - it's the newest that cools the best of the three versions.

I received the BG 6800nu from outpost.com today and it is the one with the two fans. However, when I picked up the boxed to open it I noticed something was rattling. What luck I found, a capacitor from the rear portion of the front of the card had come loose. Of course, Outpost.com doesn't have anymore. Very disappointing.

Ouch that sucks. Did you contact BFG? If so, how long till they got you a replacement?
