Dell 2005FPW 20.1 inch wide aspect LCD
Klipsch Promedia 4.2 Speakers
Thermaltake Soprano Case
Thermaltake 430W PSU with dual bearing fans

OK... here's my story..
EVERYtime i play Far Cry, Raven Shield or Run Aquamark benchmark my system lockup
after loading the game.. i havent tryed any other game, but ive tryed a lot of things..
Updated MOBO bios, video drivers, Mobo chipset drives, Disconnected some HD's and Fans in case it was 2 much for the PSU, even reinstalled windows in order to change the video card's IRQ since it was running in IRQ 19.. Nothing helped..
Disabled Fastwrites or any kind of overclock in the system or the card.
im not running sli, only this Video Card.

in aquamark itll load and run for 1 secong and itll crash.
Ive tryed disabling sound in case it was a sound issue, Itll crash the same way.
well, the guys over at BFG were really nice, and we tryed possibly all the things possible and nothing helps..... the tech suport guy told me to RMA but i just got this system built together and i just find it difficult that the card came busted... but any advices are appreciated. Ill RMA if nothing helps in a few days.

btw, the tech support for BFG parts and Monarch Computers was incredibly good, we just didnt find a nice solution.

I havent Oc'd anything cause im new to it and i dont wanna break anything.

thankz in advance.

What are your memory timings set at? Have you run memtest? Often it's not the video but the system itself.

You can also try taking out/disabling everything except the devices that you absolutely n eed. If you have an old sound card laying around, try disabling the onboard audio too. The idea is to determine whether or not it is indeed the videocard.

What are your card and CPU temps?

Thankz for replying!..:)

well, im gonna get that memtest thing now.
Im running pc3200 Patriot XBL ram at 2-2-2-5 which i heard is the setting to run it on.

right now the CPU temp is at 40C, System at 38C

video card is runnig at 370/1000 by default
core temp is 78C, im running the latest Nvidia drivers, Latest Mobo bios, Latest chipset bios

If 40°C your idle temp??? If so that's way too high for my liking.

EDIT: The GPU temp seems quite high also. You might want to look into better case ventillation.

I think that's ok for the CPU, ive asked about it and no one seemed to bother..
and the fan works with the CPU temp, when it goes up the speed goes up.

I'd like to see your CPU temp under full load though. My personal preference for an idle temp would be around 33°-35°C if air-cooled.

Well, at full load its around 50C, i was cheking it with MSI core center.
one thing i noticed that was kindy funky was that it shows me the FSB at 200Mhz and the Multiplier at 11.0x... but as i ran the sisoft sandra benchmark the values change and rised 200 * 11.5 at one point and showed me 2.3ghz.
Is is supposed 2 do that?

No, it is not.

jeez mine is 55 idle and 60 load. It is a Athlon 1800 @2000 with 4 fans. Stock speeds it is only a couple of degrees cooler.

Your CPU is fine... 40c is normal for the winchester core under stock cooling. The change in mutliplier is because you have COol and Queit enabled in your bios. BIOS downclocks your chip when its not in use. As far as thomas goes if you dont know what the hell your talking about don't post.

Well, honestly i dont know what else to do, i ran memtest and it ran fine, ive made tons of benchmarks on cpu, ram and HD and everythin runs smooth and fine but when i try 2 do anything related 2 the video it crashes.

proto

First off diasble cool n queit just in case. Secondly I had similar problems with my 6800gt. Dont run the game in anything higher than 1280x1024 at mid settings. Also make sure you are patched to far cry 1.3 at least.

cool and quiet is disabled.
i cant run anything, its not only farcry, not even Nvidia Demos
the only thing related 2 video i can do is watchin movies and my desktop
and ive tryed updating it to the 1.31 version didnt help, already got my RMA number, ive busted my ass trying 2 make this thing work, and ive seen that some people have this same problem, maybe some BFG cards came fucked or somethn.

the most overlooked hardware and i'm 99% sure its your powersupply. i had the same problem and i tried everything i could think of to remedy it. i took weeks to figure out it was my psu. causing freezing, reboots, and most noticably artifacts.

had i known how important psu's were i would not have gone vantec 520a almost 3years ago and gotten something better. i spent $130.00 on it when it came out. price is not what is important in psu's. most psu's are junk imo i would not settle for anything less than a pcp&c. i have suffered for years long enough not even realizing it was my psu. ;)

bfg 6800gt it runs fine after the psu switch. minus it runs hot for my taste.

oh btw, it was only in 3d applications that it would have problems with. 2d was no problem.
