Will the BFG 6800 128 OC run in a AGP 4x board? Their site say 8x but no mention of backward compatability.

What type of penality hit am I looking at?

the card should work fine on an agp 4x board, the only difference is the amount of data flow to/from the card. There is only like 5% difference in performance if i am not mistaken.

There shouldn't be any bottleneck, no video cards even take full advantage of the AGP 4X transfer rates yet. That said, there probably _will_ be.

For my own clarification, despite the untapped potential of even AGP 4x, is there a latency difference between 4x and 8x?

Yes, AGP 8X has more bandwidth, don't remember how much off the top of my head though...

The difference in performance between 4x and 8x is almost unmeasurable in any game. You have to make contrived examples to demonstrate the difference (i.e. if you write a program specifically to test the difference, you will see it, but in ordinary use it won't be noticed).
