i need some help guys, i want to flash my bfg 5900 nu. i have no clue how to do it, i already downloaded the bfg 5950 ultra bios and just have no clue what to do. i tried looking for directions, but i found no step by step directions.

thanxs man, i got that tool, but isnt that just a tool to back up the old bios, which i just used that tool and backed it up just incase. maybe im a bad reader but i cant find anything in that post how it says to flash the bios to the 5950.

Use nvflash 4.41, not 4.46. 4.46 can't bypass the board ID mismatch.

boot to a DOS prompt (not a windows command prompt). Go to www.bootdisk.com if you need a bootable diskette.

step 1: backup your existing 5900nu bios:
nvflash /b oldbios.bin
step 2: flash the new 5950u bios (bfg5950u.rom, bfg595~1.rom or whatever it's called... don't try to burn using the long filename, it won't work):
nvflash /f bfg5950u.rom /u /p

lol. Are step by step instructions really needed?

(edit) I guess so after reading the last message. :(

Just follow the directions in the readme. I updated the tool with an exe dedicated to a flash disk for your new bios.

Don't forget to copy you backed up bios to the first restore disk in case of trouble before flashing.

I forgot what I used, but it saved and flashed, just a different command line. Hope it works, its definatly a great thing to do :)

nm, i thought the drivers werent installed. but there there, i was also wondering if where ever to format, will the video card stay flashed

It's permanent unless you reflash the BIOS. Did you use my stuff to do it?

Cool. Yeah so to speak. I just put the necessary components together and automated it.

I just flashed my BFG 5900NU to a BFG 5950Ultra. Good performance increase for me and core runs a bit cooler.
