With no official word otherwise, BF4 Mantle should be arriving within 6 days. A new thread on this seems appropriate.

No hard data yet so I suggest a harmless guessing game, the 290x vs. 780ti on BF4 Mantle based on HardOCP's apples to apples average frame rate difference between those two cards.

My guess, based purely on AMD's CTO saying the 290x will 'ridicule' Nvidia's Titan in BF4 Mantle is a 27% FPS difference, advantage 290x.

Whoever is closest get's a 'bloody well done'.

What is your guess?

Is that like a Borat excite? Is Pam gonna be there??

You know, a thread isn't legit until Xoleras pops in. Then you will know how useful something is.

Are they really projecting 20+% performance increases? My 290's are already spankin' BF4 at 1440p, a gain of 20 percent would be incredible!

And yes that was a Borat excite!

Think that came from this.

"Andersson said creating a Mantle version of the Frostbite 3 engine took them about two months to complete. Mantle support will be added by an update in late December, nearly two months after the game's release. Jorjen Katsman of Nixxes, the firm porting Thief to the PC, added that AMD's API significantly reduces overhead. The Mantle API has just 8 percent overhead whereas DirectX 11 has an overhead of around 40 percent. Katsman says it's not unrealistic to receive 20 percent extra GPU performance in games with Mantle support."

It would seem 20%+ is not unrealistic.

He just now registered. And posted this same message across multiple forums. The shill radar is alarming! ;)

I doubt Mantle will be released this month. Not with the holidays, not with BF4 being broken. EA halted all DLC development to fix the actual game which still crashes with frequency. I can't imagine Mantle being a priority with that being the case - and this is the holidays as well. We'll see though. Maybe you AMD guys will get a nice surprise before years end. ;) I am quite curious to see how mantle performs. So i'd rather it be released sooner rather than later, so long the game is fixed in a timely manner as well.

The latest build of BF4 is actually pretty good. A lot of the texture flickering and prior nonsense that happened a few weeks ago is gone, so it is improving. The release state of BF4..ugh. Clearly EA was rushing it out the door to get holiday sales. I hope that bites them in the ass.

Spambot or shill?

I see no need for unwarranted name calling.

BF4 Mantle's release will generate a blizzard of posts across the tech forums and this is the question on everyone's mind.

The latest official word from DICE on BF4 Mantle's release was 'by the end of December'.

Creating a thread a few days beforehand and giving people a chance to toss a performance guess into the ring is hardly unwarranted.

Unless perhaps you are a hard core Nvidia fanboy, in which case I suppose any mention of Mantle is hateful.

who said Mantle is arriving in 6 days?

The latest word from DICE for BF4 Mantle is late December. There are six days left in December so unless/until DICE changes the month the six days figure is valid as the latest the update can be expected. .

I am shocked by this reply. It is well put and doesn't really show any kind of bias (fuck EA, but who cares) towards red or green. Well done, sir, well done.

Posting the same thread on multiple tech forums is not automatically 'shilling', it's the CONTENT of the thread that determines that and this thread isn't remotely 'shilling', unless you're a hard core Nvidia fanboy that hates anything posted about Mantle perhaps.

What you 'doubt' or 'imagine' is purely a subjective opinion that may or may not be correct. I am basing my thread on the latest OFFICIAL word from DICE on when BF4 Mantle will be released.

Oh come on. I was also expecting nVidia superiority. But he does have a point, until Mantle releases we know nothing. And that includes him, so why even argue.

I have seen no argument regarding Mantle's performance.

I came down on the side of the 290x based on the considerable information that has been conveyed by AMD and several highly experienced developers across numerous presentations on Mantle. Until proven otherwise, I'll assume those developers, which have first hand knowledge and experience with Mantle, know what they're talking about.

They also have multiple financial interests, good job!

Calm your tits there bro. It was a joke related to the post right above mine. Like I said, i'm curious about Mantle just like everyone else is, so the sooner the better - but you also have to keep in mind the state of the BF4 game, which has been somewhat broken for many weeks. If Mantle happens soon, i'd be all for it. That said, we don't know jack shit about Mantle. It could great. It could be decent. It could be meh. . We just don't know till we have numbers, so i'm hoping we have numbers soon. And yeah, considering most developers were paid cash (DICE was paid 8 million) I wouldn't take anything from a marketing video at face value. What I can take at face value are OBJECTIVE BENCHMARKS. Which hopefully we'll have soon. :)

And yeah, I do prefer nvidia these days although I *did* run AMD GPUs for many years straight prior to that. So you can call me an nvidia fanboy, and I would say...pot kettle black...;) I mean you're not an AMD fanboy? Whatever ! If Mantle is great, that'll be good for competition in the GPU space. So it's all good.

Mantle, brought to you by the same people as Battlefield 4.
So YOU KNOW it's gonna be good.

If it works.
Someday.
