Hi. I think its about time to upgrade my HD 4670 card to something new :) I want to play BF3, AC4, Diablo 3, Skyrim and other new games at the highest detail levels.

I live i Denmark where everything is pricy so dont get surprised by the prices of the cards

Im am considering the following cards:
MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II/OC
ASUS GeForce GTX 560 Ti TOP DirectCUII
both $314

MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II 2GD5/OC
$350

Sapphire TOXIC HD 6950 2GB
MSI R6950 2GB Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC
both $412

Which one(s) would you recommend? Should I go for the GTX 560 Ti 1GB, GTX 560 Ti 2GB or the potentially unlockable HD 6950 2GB cards? Are the 6950s worth the extra money? Will 560Ti be sufficient for BF3 etc. with maxed out graphics?

OVERCLOCKING: Why not :)
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes but later on
MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080

Why not just get a regular edition 6950 2GB? That'll be plenty for 1080p, and if not you can always crossfire it. For those prices, I'd post in the FS thread and see if someone would buy one for you and ship it to you (since vanilla 6950 2GBs go for like $250 in the US).
 
At those prices and at that resolution I'd strongly consider the msi twin frozr II 2GB GTX 560Ti. It's not as fast as the 6950 toxic but it can be overclocked to get pretty close even if the 6950 unlocks which isn't guaranteed.

My advice would change if you tell me that you may go eyefinity or nv surround in the future. If that is possible get the 6950 toxic as when the resolution goes up the amd cards perform better compared to the nvidia cards.

Good idea. But I'm afraid it will get catched in the customs. I think the risk is higher because it will be a outside-EU package
 
Just get it sent as a gift, those prices are crazy...

Id go with the 6950...better card for sure, but what I did...and best bang for the buck right now is two 6870's in crossfire...faster than a GTX580 and much cheaper...just another option to look at!
 
Finally with the pressure of the BF3 release i choose a Sapphire HD 6950 2GB Dirt 3 Edition for about $374. Getting it from a local retailer.

The card should be good for a while. There are some mixed sayings on whether it unlocks. Nevertheless it has the dual BIOS switch. It would be really cool if it did unlock but it doesnt matter that much

When im getting the next one for crossfire i will get it from USA. Sending the package as a gift might get it through the customs without problems. But does anybody have an idea how much international(Europe) shipping costs?

The sapphire dirt 3 card comes flashed with a second bios that has all 1536 shaders unlocked. Simply flip the switch and it should unlock, unless you get a gpu that is laser blocked from the factory. The bios switch is pretty well hidden but let me assure you it's there. Look carefully.
 
Sending it as gift is not certain to work. You know, the customs authorities have X-ray machines and stuff. If they detect electronics in your package, they might demand that you prove to them the actual value and pay import tax.
