BF3 Crashes on start up/joining server

Ok guys Ive googled and googled to no resolve. I upgraded my wife from an amd quad core (AM2 board) to an i5 2500k gigabyte z68x-ud3h-b3 16 gb of gskill memory 128 m4 6870 xfx video card.

When I reformatted her rig and installed bf3(after all of the windows updates) when I click a server the computer goes through the motions of starting the game up but it hangs on initializing. If I click the bf3 icon it opens up to a quarter window white screen of bf3. I have to alt-cntl-del to kill bf3 or it will just sit there stuck. I reformatted, I removed her game from the cloud storage, Heck I even tried windows 8 on her machine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was getting the same stuck on initializing screen after the last dlc came out. I had downloaded the dlc one day and the next day I booted up and there was another app. the same size download.So I stopped it thinking it was downloading the dlc again. After rebooting, I could not join any server and it was stuck on the initializing screen. I started/stopped Origin a few times until it started downloading again and after that, all was well.

Yes, some people said that it was some sort of patch but because of the way DICE does things, it was integrated into the dlc instead of patching whatever it was supposed to be patching...

I have had that issue since the game launched. I never could fix it. I just gave up on trying to play it.

ok so progress report. I copied my bf3 folder (mine works) paste over her bf3,tried the game and still nothing. Freezes on initialization.
ARGHHH.

Turn off hyperthreading in the BIOS if that CPU has it.

I read this in a forum a looooooong time ago so I may be mistaken.

i5's dont have hyper-threading to begin with, and turning it off on the i7's helped with microstutter in game.

could be a driver issue, you have your latest chipset/gpu drivers installed? but after some research i found that some people were able to play after deleting this file

Go to my docs>BF3>settings and delete the "PROF_SAVE_body" file.

latest drivers for chipset and gpu. I tried and swapped my nvidia 660 gtx ti to her rig and same results.
Onboard gpu is also disabled.

Tried that. Also tried uninstall in origin and installing as admin.
Thought it might have been because I was using chrome but I uninstall ed that and uninstall ed the battle log plugins and reinstalled just to be safe. No dice.

UPDATE:FIXED
Went and did an optimization of settings in the bios and for whatever reason that cured the problem. Thanks for the input everyone.
