BF3 audio

Does anyone have a killer audio setup info for BF3? I have the audio hardware listed in my SIG. I'm wondering if I can tweak the equalizer in my x-fi software to make the sounds better just like I do for music.

Anyone have a good equalizer setup for BF3?

The only reason to eq the game is to compensate for issues with your headphones or speakers. The game, as is, should not need eq help.

If you want to hear more detail, try lowering the amount of bass. Not as fun sounding but footsteps are in the midrange freqs.

I would try running in hifi or home theater with your settings on 5.1 in windows and on the xfi too. No eax or crystallizer enabled. Gaming mode on the xfi.

Or just run straight stereo with xfi set to audio creation mode.

Don't listen to the nay saying of using EQ's , every soundtrack you've ever heard has been EQ'd already. Applying it on your end is just fine , achieve whatever results make you happy honestly. If you want more bass , crank it up. If you want more treble than go for it.

Sound is subjective , don't consult others for how it should sound , consult your own taste on how you enjoy it.

I'm curious what you use for your settings.

Is your sound card set to 2 channel mode or higher? Is Dolby Headphone/CMS3D on or anything like that?

What about in BF3. Do you have it set to Hifi or Headphone? or Home Theatre? What about enhanced stereo if in 2ch mode?

If I had that setup, it would be straight stereo with audio creation and bit perfect playback enabled. Hi fi or home cinema selected on bf3.

Next thing you want to get is a better dac than that xfi. I know it sound awesome now but trust me on this one, you can improve it big time with a simple external dac that cleans up the signal a bit and lowers the noise floor. In my experience, it is a lot like going from listening to music in a room with a tv on in the next room with the door open to being in a sealed room with acoustic treatment. So the detail level goes up even more. I would not spend more than what you did on the amp but yeah, might be worth trying someday.
