Man, since the last patch the game is really gotten bad with the sound cut outs. Just missing in all aspects. It used to get bad in a big server with lots of vehicles, stil does and is worse now. Not as bad in tdm but still not acceptable at times. I don't know what the hell they are trying to do or if it is just an engine issue that can't be fixed but man is it distracting. Especially for someone like me who damn near sees with his ears.

I have never experienced these sound cut outs in 64 man servers on any game type and I have 566 hours of game time. Is it possible that it's hardware/settings/driver related in some way perhaps?

Like wise, I have never come across any sound issues, the sound is fantastic in the game, quite honestly it's been flawless.

Glad your works but:

Google

bf3 sound cuts out

and you will understand. It could very well be some hardware issue. However, BF is known for bugs that affect some people and you just can't fix them. I am running 48khz 16 bit in an effort to be compatible with the game but it has just gotten worse with the last patch.

lol what a dick j/k

what are your hardware specs? list your rig bro... what sound card?

your mobo sound is to blame.

i experienced the same crap until i switched to a dedicated sound card.

You guys know me yet? I am one of the audio guys. I know what's what. I have a xonar dx1 with the unity 1.61 drivers, 48khz 16 bit settings in windows digital out into a separate receiver. I had the same issue with a xfi fatality pro and onboard too of course.

I am pretty sure it is a net code issue. I do also use a network card. I am going to update those drivers now b/c I did that for the asus and it seems to work a bit better than before. Still have drop outs though.

Also going to try this b/c my setting was at 1.

Go to \Documents\Battlefield 3\settings, open PROF_SAVE_profile with notepad and change GstAudio.AudioQuality to 4 or higher

The above seems to fix the issue fyi. So I guess the patch may revert it back to 1 and if you have high settings elsewhere, it might cause the issue.

That setting only goes up to 3 correct?
GstAudio.AudioQuality 0= Slightly
GstAudio.AudioQuality 1= Middle
GstAudio.AudioQuality 2= High
GstAudio.AudioQuality 3= Ultra

what does 4 do?

I guess with 4 you can hear them fart? Dunno but it seems to work tits so far.

so um does 4 actually even exist as a setting was my point...

also are you sure running 44khz 16 bit is correct?

48 16 bit

Which appears to be the compatible mode. I guess 4 works as ultra +? No idea except the sound is all there now and I can really hear directional cues. Much more accurate now. Probably exactly the same as 3 but I have seen it called the highest setting in a few random posts on the net. No confirmation yet. All I can say is try it if you like. Works for me.
