This video is with 11.11 and Cap 2 installed I was watching the Seahawks game in the background which they lost :-/

With 2 6970's I was struggling in Eyefinity since upgrading to 6990+6970 it is very playable at Auto/Ultra settings averaging between 60-100 fps.

I was recording at 5760X1080p on 3 Acer 24" monitors.

I want to thank AMD for supplying the 6990 and Koolance for supplying the waterblock!

Looks great! I've got 2 xfx 6950 2GB Cards, I know I will have to turn stuff down to run it, I just picked up three 24inch monitors so I hope it's not too bad.

Fantastic tip here, frighteningly expensive upgrade path.

Franjo, I've got 2x 5870 and run (mostly) high but struggle with fps. I drop into the 20s much more often than I'd like. I think your 6950s are similar, maybe not quite as strong as the 5870.

Don,

Yeah I'm reading quite a bit about it. That on top of possible screen tearing issues I'm hearing about with eyefinity make me a bit worried.

I haven't picked up the monitors, and may just have to cancel the order on them as I think my cards won't have enough juice.

6950 is faster than 5870.

Screen tearing issues apply on the odd connected monitor (e.g. 2xDP 1xDVI -> Screen tearing on DVI).
(2xDVI 1xDP - Screen tearing on DP). Just put the odd monitor as one of your side monitors. It's a non issue.

dook,

Thanks for your explanation. I was planning to run two via DVI and pickup an active mini display port to dvi connector. I thought my 6950 was a bit quicker than a 5870, also with having 2gb of ram on each card I thought it might help me a bit more as well when it came to higher res and eyefinity.

Thanks for your explanation of the tearing issue, it pretty much sums it up perfect for me. I was reading tons of different posts about it and it was getting difficult to figure out. With your explanation, I'd just have my left monitor to DVI, Center monitor to DVI and right monitor to MiniDP via an XFX active adapter (non usb powered).

There's another thread here about CPU importance to BF3. I found out the hard way it takes a lot of CPU to drive 3 screens; I was running my i7-930 at stock and had significant FPS issues, I was ready to throw in the towel. Then I went ahead and turned the OC back on and it gets better from 2.9 to 3.8 to 4.15.
Make sure you've got enough horsepower to feed those cards, too!
I like it and think it's worth it, even with less than super-smooth FPS, it's so immersive, like I've never experienced before!

I'm really impressed with how well this 6990+6970 is working. I don't notice any microstutter at all. I was contemplating on running these cards in parallel or in series with the watercooling. I thought that parallel would keep the temps down better but they hardly break 50c running around 45c most of the time.

Elmy, glad it works great for you. Today I'll be testing it with my 6950's. Hope it goes good!!

Sorry to steal your thread Elmy, just wanted to say my crossfired 6950 2gb is running bf3 in eyefinity quite awesome. Im at 40fps with the msaa turned off. Runs fantastic. I plan to oc my 2500k to 4.5 now and I'll leave it at that. See if I can squeeze a few more fps out of it.
